There is nothing at all. Whatever you do, there is nothing to identify. Whatever appears, there is nothing to rely on. Whatever constant characteristics you grasp, there is no differentiation. You must maintain that very state. By cultivating in this way, through the three confidences in the lama, the lineage, and your own nature, you will definitively determine that the mind is empty. This is the end of the second part, the introduction. The third point is the introduction to emptiness without an object of focus. The scripture is: In the Sutra Requested by Dharaṇīśvara, it says, "Emptiness is the supreme state of the words 'without manifest attachment' and 'without grasping.'" And in other sutras, it is said, "Ultimate truth is where the mind cannot run, let alone letters." Wisdom is to combine all the wisdoms that prevent the characteristics of emptiness. In meditative equipoise, it is without elaboration, without extremes, without conceptualization, and emptiness. Even if you grasp these, it is elaboration, it is falling to an extreme, it is straying. For example, actually tasting the flavor of sugarcane and so on, and thinking with the mind that the flavor of sugarcane is like this, these two are completely different, which is proven by experience. Similarly, when you look nakedly at awareness, that state of being unidentifiable, and the emptiness of understanding, the way of experiencing these two is also different, which is proven by direct experience. No matter how you grasp it with conceptual thought, it is a sign that it does not fit with the true nature. If you do not even grasp emptiness, then what need is there to mention grasping anything else? In that nature of non-elaboration, the mind cannot grasp anything anywhere. The introduction to the experience of meditation is also not to leave that meaning on the level of understanding, but to apply it to awareness. When you apply the emptiness that is thought about by the mind to the mind or to appearances, to experience whether it fits or not, the emptiness that is thought about by the mind itself will vanish and not arise. Unlike the previous understanding, this very appearance and awareness is unidentifiable, naked, unable to speak, unable to think, unable to see, without acceptance, without placement, without going, without coming. You should repeat that state over and over. Determining through possessing the three confidences, in the Sutra on Entering Non-Conceptualization, it says, "Non-conceptualization is without form, cannot be shown, is without support, is without appearance, is without discriminating consciousness, is without a place." And so on.

And the Lama teaches through the means of instructions, reasoning, and oral instructions. Also, in the tantras, it says: "Those who do not depart from the unchanging, they grasp emptiness and practice seeing it as empty." Although it comes from the early translation classics, "departure" must be explained as "inverted" in meaning. Therefore, it says: "If people grasp emptiness and practice seeing it as empty, it is deviating from the unchanging state." This is how it is proclaimed. Furthermore, regarding the true nature, because the attachment to words and concepts has been exhausted, and one has personally experienced it, emptiness is without conceptualization and without an object of focus. It has been determined to be free from elaboration and free from expression. End of the third part of the introduction. Fourth point, in order to show that these three stages of introduction are the oral instructions transmitted from Shakyamuni Buddha, and that the practice is without error, it is said in the Thirty-Three Sutra: "Son of the gods, all of the three realms are only mind. And that mind is also formless, invisible, unobstructed, non-discriminating, like an illusion. Even if this mind is sought with the nature of mind, it cannot be found. With what mind does one seek mind, that mind also cannot be found. Because the mind is not fixated upon, all phenomena are not fixated upon." Moreover, this sutra's quote is also cited by the noble Asanga in the Compendium of The Great Vehicle: "Thus, knowing the inner mind, one should realize that there is nothing to be grasped. After that, there is no grasper. Then one should realize that there is no object of focus." This is how it is proclaimed. Wisdom is as mentioned above, first meditating on the gross and easy-to-understand parts, and then one must meditate on the subtle and difficult-to-understand parts. The experience of meditation also corresponds to this. Making a decision through the path of possessing three kinds of faith is also an explanation of what was said before. End of the fourth part of the introduction. Second, to introduce the wisdom of subsequent attainment as being like an illusion, the quote is: In the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it says: "Sons of the gods, all phenomena are like illusions, like dreams." etc. At the end of the boundless, it says: "Even Nirvana is like a dream, like an illusion. If it is said like that, what need is there to mention other phenomena?" And it says: "Sons of the gods, if I had another excellent dharma that surpasses Nirvana, that would also be like a dream, like an illusion." Thus it is said. Joy
