English version (Boundless joy) Do not believe and accept the words of others (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), but let the mind be pure, and all will be pure (Boundless joy). If it is said that this place is like the Buddha-lands (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), why are there still the six realms of samsara and endless cycles of birth and death (Boundless joy)? Thorn bushes fill the three realms (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), mountains and rivers, high and low, are uneven (Boundless joy). The nature of sentient beings in water, land, and space (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), is full of ignorance and afflictions, like greed and hatred (Boundless joy). Moment after moment, greedily seeking wealth and sensual pleasures brings endless suffering (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), bound by the ropes of karma, desire, and delusion, beings are sent into the cycle of rebirth (Boundless joy). King Yama (the lord of death) sends messengers to arrest (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), the prison guards and ox-headed demons urge them on and on (Boundless joy). Fierce flames rise from all four sides simultaneously (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), blown by the winds of karma, falling into suffering (Boundless joy). The most intense flames are outside the four gates of hell (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), each gate separated by eighty-four thousand li (Boundless joy). In each of these separations, the condemned must pass through (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), countless instruments of torture are within (Boundless joy). Smoke and flames rise from the bodies of the condemned (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), flying wheels and swords enter their bodies horizontally and vertically (Boundless joy). All the sufferings in all the hells are the same (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), when will there be an end (Boundless joy)? (Boundless joy) Practicing the Pratyutpanna-samadhi (the Samadhi of direct encounter with the Buddhas of the present) brings joy (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), may the three evil destinies (hell, hungry ghosts, and animals) be forever severed, and may their names no longer exist (Boundless joy). Seven layers of iron walls, surrounded by seven layers of iron nets (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), within each layer of the city, there are forests of iron trees (Boundless joy). Each tree has eighty-four thousand branches (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), each leaf and fruit is like a wheel of knives (Boundless joy). Flying wheels rise up and then fall down (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), entering through the head and exiting through the feet, the pain is unbearable (Boundless joy). Above each layer of the city gates, there are eighty thousand cauldrons (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), molten copper and iron pour out like springs (Boundless joy). The boiling waves rise to a height of eighty thousand yojanas (an ancient Indian unit of distance) (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land), directly spraying out a thousand yojanas beyond the gates (Wishing to be reborn in the Pure Land). Ox-headed wardens glare at the roadside (Vow to be reborn), the earth shakes like thunder (Limitless Bliss). Sinners hear this and their hearts break (Vow to be reborn), iron worms and iron birds compete to devour them (Limitless Bliss). Iron pellets, swords fall from the sky (Vow to be reborn), molten copper and iron are poured onto their bodies (Limitless Bliss). Forty thousand leagues from the iron city gate (Vow to be reborn), wanting to escape but there is nowhere to hide (Limitless Bliss). Running faster than the wind, like an arrow shot (Vow to be reborn), in an instant they enter the sevenfold gate (Limitless Bliss). The joy of the Pratyutpanna Samadhi (Vow to be reborn), wholeheartedly reciting the Buddha's name, cutting off greed and anger (Limitless Bliss). Entering within these sevenfold iron gates (Vow to be reborn), when and in what kalpa (aeon) can they return (Limitless Bliss)? Once the sinners enter, all the gates are closed (Vow to be reborn), each body fills the space without obstructing each other (Limitless Bliss). One lies for eighty thousand long kalpas (Vow to be reborn), all due to the karmic cause of destroying the Dharma (Limitless Bliss). Slandering the Three Jewels, destroying others' good deeds (Vow to be reborn), they also fall into the Avici (uninterrupted) Great Hell (Limitless Bliss). Making sins through jesting and play, they suffer for many kalpas (Vow to be reborn), not cherishing the Buddha's intention, but valuing human sentiments (Limitless Bliss). Be careful not to take it lightly and indulge the three karmas (of body, speech, and mind) (Vow to be reborn), the path of karma is clear and cannot be deceived (Limitless Bliss). The joy of the Pratyutpanna Samadhi (Vow to be reborn), cutting across the path of karma, entering the Western Pure Land (Limitless Bliss). Outside the gates of the sevenfold iron city (Vow to be reborn), an iron python raises its head, emerging from the city (Limitless Bliss). Flames and blade wheels spew from its mouth (Vow to be reborn), also pouring down on the sinners (Limitless Bliss). From every pore of the four-cornered iron dogs (Vow to be reborn), smoke and fire rain down on people's bodies (Limitless Bliss).
