It is necessary to eliminate the three obstacles (Tibetan: དང་གོལ་ས་གསུམ་གྱིས་བར་ཆད) and the three hindrances arising from agitation, dullness, and conceptualization. Among these, the four losses are: First, losing oneself in the nature of what is knowable (Tibetan: ཤེས་བྱ); second, losing oneself in the difference between what is to be abandoned (Tibetan: སྤང་བྱ) and its antidote (Tibetan: གཉེན); third, losing oneself in augmenting with emptiness (Tibetan: སྟོང་ཉིད). The first loss is: thinking that nothing exists, or clinging to it as if a vase is empty of a pillar. The second loss is: afflictions (Tibetan: ཉོན་མོངས) are not empty from the beginning, but clinging to the object to be abandoned and its nature as different. The third loss is: thinking that one needs to augment one separate thing with another separate emptiness. The fourth loss is: thinking that emptiness is not just the cause or path, but that the result arises separately from it. The three obstacles are: if one clings to and is attached to the three aspects of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality of samadhi (Tibetan: ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན), one will be bound in the three realms (Tibetan: ཁམས་གསུམ); if one clings to signs (Tibetan: མཚན་མ), one will fall into the state of a Hearer (Tibetan: ཉན་རང) and Solitary Realizer (Tibetan: རང་རྒྱལ). Therefore, it is important to cut off the clinging to these. Even if there is no clinging, if the radiance of awareness (Tibetan: རིག་པ) does not arise, then practicing calm abiding (Tibetan: ཞི་གནས) is like a lethargic state, which is a demon of practice, so it should be recognized and abandoned. Second, recognizing conceptual thought (Tibetan: རྣམ་རྟོག) as luminosity (Tibetan: འོད་གསལ): From the state of resting as before, if conceptual thoughts arise and become thoughts that grasp objects, then by looking at the thought itself, one will find that there is nothing to see, and the thought will vanish. This is knowing wisdom (Tibetan: ཡེ་ཤེས) from within wisdom, and through the causes of form (Tibetan: གཟུགས) and sound (Tibetan: སྒྲ), wisdom naturally awakens. Furthermore, if conceptual thoughts arise due to various external circumstances, without clinging to the object that is being apprehended, by focusing single-pointedly, the appearance of the object will also become invisible, or one will attain calm abiding with single-pointedness of mind. Among these, the aspect of single-pointedness of mind is calm abiding, and the aspect of clarity and awareness, free from grasping, is insight (Tibetan: ལྷག་མཐོང). The union of these two is the wisdom of Mahamudra (Tibetan: ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ), or coemergent wisdom (Tibetan: ལྷན་ཅིག་སྐྱེས་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས), the luminous Dharmakaya (Tibetan: འོད་གསལ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ), non-elaborate samadhi, the wisdom of great bliss, Prajnaparamita (Tibetan: ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་ཕྱིན་མ), the samadhi of emptiness, and so forth, which are taught in all the sutras (Tibetan: མདོ) and tantras (Tibetan: རྒྱུད) under many names. Fifth, dedicating (Tibetan: བསྔོ) the root of virtue (Tibetan: དགེ་བའི་རྩ་བ) to perfect enlightenment (Tibetan: བྱང་ཆུབ): The first three of the five dharmas are the accumulation of merit (Tibetan: བསོད་ནམས་ཀྱི་ཚོགས), and the last two are the accumulation of wisdom (Tibetan: ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཚོགས). All the virtue encompassed by these two, for the sake of attaining Buddhahood for the benefit of others, in the manner of the three spheres being non-existent (Tibetan: འཁོར་གསུམ་མི་དམིགས་པ), dedicate and make aspirations with any words of dedication. Whatever great, medium, or small roots of virtue have been accumulated, do so. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It will never be exhausted until Buddhahood, and it will become the cause of increasing from above. Preliminary Refuge and Generating Bodhicitta, and the reason why one must supplicate the Lama. Second, introducing the view of Sutra and Tantra: The reason why one must take refuge and generate Bodhicitta. The reason why one must supplicate the Lama. Introducing the method of practicing the main practice of Generation and Completion stages in union. Finally, the reason why one must seal with dedication. First, initially, before practicing any path, one must take refuge, because the Three Jewels are the refuge for those who desire liberation. As it is said in the 'Seventy Verses on Refuge': 'The Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha are, the refuge for those who desire liberation.' Regarding its precepts, Vimala says: 'The first precept of taking refuge in the Three Jewels is, not to rely on yakshas, not to prostrate. Second, towards all sentient beings, abandon harm and cherish love. Third, in one's own and others' places, not to associate with sinful ones. For images and verses, and yellow robes that are sewn, with faith, regard them as teachers. For all that is spoken from his mouth, do not slander, take it upon your head. For those who are pure and impure, regard them as sacred. Even for the sake of life, do not abandon the three. At this time, whatever circumstances may arise, do not seek refuge elsewhere. With great qualities and pure food, always remember and make offerings.' Similarly, entering the path of the Great Vehicle, perceiving sentient beings as parents, Generating loving-kindness and compassion is preliminary, so one must first generate Bodhicitta. As it is said in the 'Tathagata Secret Sutra': 'The Bhagavan generated great compassion.' The Bhagavan taught: 'Great King, not abandoning all sentient beings is generation.' Asked: 'Bhagavan, how is it not abandoning all sentient beings?' Taught: 'Great King, when one abandons self-pleasure.' The method of cultivating loving-kindness and compassion is also said in the 'Arya Inexhaustible Intelligence Sutra': 'Regarding the object of sentient beings, first, for the sentient being most cherished in your heart, thinking of accomplishing benefit and happiness, become accustomed to this, and cultivate loving-kindness corresponding to it. After that, it is for those who are familiar. After that, it is for ordinary people. After that, it is for those who are nearby. After that, it is for those who live in the village. Similarly, for people in other villages. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
