Thesis: Because the vase and the mutual are different. If accepted, then it follows: it does not exist. Because you are the place purified by the vase. If the pervasion (周遍关系) is not established, then this subject (事物): it should be like that. Because if you exist, you must be like that. The latter reason is refuted. Also, the absence of a vase, as the subject: it should be without a vase. Because you are the object of negation of the vase. The pervasion is real. If accepted, then this subject: it should have a vase. Because you exist, and the vase is you. The latter reason is real. Also, omniscience, as the subject: it should be without obscuration. Because it is the object of negation of obscuration. If accepted, then it follows: there are no sentient beings. The opponent says: If the basis is established, then it follows: having a vase is pervasive. Because it exists on this subject. If accepted, then it follows: this previous basis, as the subject: it should be like that. Because of that reason. If accepted, then it follows: in the place purified by the vase, there should be a vase. Because this previous basis has a vase. The reason is self-contradictory. If accepted, according to your own view, if there is no self, then is having knowledge pervasive or not pervasive? If not pervasive, then refute. If pervasive, then in this previous basis with a permanent self, as the subject: it should be like that. Because of that reason. If accepted, then it follows: there is a permanent self. Because in the basis where it exists, there is knowledge. According to your own view, the reason is self-contradictory. Also, this previous basis, as the subject: if there is no self, you must not exist. Because you do not exist. If it is not established, then accept, and this subject: if all knowledge exists, you must exist. Because you exist. If accepted, then the vase, as the subject: it should be like that. Because of that reason. If accepted, then yours is self-contradictory. Also, the opponent says: the vase not perceived by a valid cognition ( प्रमाण,pramāṇa,量), as the subject: you are the correct reason for establishing that that place does not exist, because your reason possesses the three modes of establishing like that. The property of the subject is established, because all its establishing factors participate. If it is thought like this, then it is fundamentally accepted. Then, that purified place, as the subject: it should be like that. Because of that reason. If all three are self-contradictory, then, using valid cognition to perceive that the vase and substance are different, as the subject: you are the correct reason for establishing that the place purified by the vase and substance are different, because your reason possesses the three modes of establishing like that. The establishing factors participate as before. If accepted, then this subject: it should be different from the substance. Because it is perceived there by valid cognition. According to your own view, the reason is self-contradictory. Also, establishing that sound is permanent, Does the correct reason exist or not exist? If it exists, then it follows: sound is permanent. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If there is a measurable dharma, then, to prove that sound is permanent, your reason is correct, because your reason possesses the three conditions necessary for establishment. I concede the subsequent proof. Some also say that using a place cleaned by a vase to prove the existence of the vase is correct, because its self-nature is consistent with the thesis, and the subsequent pervasion is established. The subsequent pervasion is established because it is related to the concordant instances of the thesis. The measurable dharma is related to the existence of the vase; if there is a measurable dharma, then the vase exists. To these views, it can be countered that using the measurable dharma to prove that sound is permanent is correct, and using the measurable dharma to prove that the consciousness of a double moon illusion is direct perception प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure) is correct, because your argument is correct. Ultimately, if there is a measurable dharma, then it must be direct perception प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure). Furthermore, regarding the place cleaned by a vase, it can be countered that this dharma does not exist, because you are the basis of negation for this dharma. Regarding this counter, your universality is established because it exists. I concede this reason. If this view is accepted, then, regarding the vase, you can counter that a non-existent thing is your basis of negation, because a non-existent thing exists. Regarding this counter, your universality is established because it exists. I accept this elimination. If this view is accepted, then, regarding a non-existent thing, you can counter that a non-existent thing is your basis of negation, because a non-existent thing exists. If this view is accepted, then, regarding the non-existence of a non-existent thing, a non-existent thing is non-existent, because you are its basis of negation. If this view is accepted, then, regarding that thing, that thing exists, because a permanent thing exists, because you exist, you are permanent. Furthermore, regarding a non-permanent thing, it exists because its distinction exists; sound is its distinction. If this view is accepted from the beginning, then, regarding a non-permanent thing, it is non-permanent, because you are the basis of negation for the permanent. If this view is accepted, then it exists, because you exist, you are permanent. Furthermore, regarding a strong hot sensation, a strong cold sensation does not exist, because you are its basis of negation. If this view is accepted, then, regarding a strong cold sensation, the other does not exist, because you are its basis of negation. If this view is also accepted, then, regarding a strong hot sensation, you exist on top of a strong cold sensation, just as you exist on top of a rabbit's horn, because the rabbit's horn and those two are equally non-existent. If this view is accepted, then this is contradictory. The same applies to the other. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
