May it be in accordance with the Dharma, and may it be fulfilled as desired! May no obstacles arise even for a moment! ' This is also said. In general, if you are just doing a common dedication, say: 'Please listen! By the power and ability of accumulating all the roots of virtue that we and others have accomplished in this way, may the precious teachings of the Victorious Ones, the source of all benefits and happiness, flourish and spread in all directions from all doors, and may they remain for a long time! May all the obstacles to the lives, activities, and enlightened activities of the holy beings who uphold the teachings and reside in all directions be pacified! May all pure activities and benefits flourish and increase in all times, places, and circumstances! May all the Sangha be harmonious, and may all the practices of the ten Dharmas, such as writing, offering, and giving, increase and flourish more and more! By the blessings of these, may limitless sentient beings be endowed with perfect happiness and prosperity! May all the vast realms be happy! May all the disturbances of the times be pacified! May all epidemic diseases be pacified! May hail, frost, and famine be pacified! May all the evil thoughts and actions of unruly sentient beings be pacified! May all sentient beings abide in love for each other like parents! May all sentient beings be completely liberated from the snares of demons! Abandoning various conflicting and discordant views, may they abide in the correct view! May the great conduct of Bodhi be completely perfected! May they be endowed with the joy of the precepts that please the Noble Ones! May they abide in the bliss of liberation, free from the torment of afflictions! ' In addition, recite 'The only medicine for the suffering of beings,' etc. If you are doing an extensive dedication for the sick, say: 'Please listen! By the root of virtue of accomplishing this, may all the diseases of so-and-so (referring to the patient) caused by wind, bile, and phlegm be completely pacified! May all combined and accumulated diseases be completely pacified! May all diseases arising from sudden and violent causes be completely pacified! May all harm from evil spirits and demons be completely pacified! May all harm from obstacles and wrong views be completely pacified! May all untimely harms be completely pacified! May all snares of demons and messengers of Yama be turned back! May all bad dreams and bad omens be completely pacified! May all evil omens be completely pacified! May all life and merit increase and expand more and more! Recite this three times. If doing a condensed version, recite: May all sick sentient beings, such as so-and-so, be liberated from their illnesses! May the illnesses of beings never arise! Recite this three times. When dedicating merit for someone who has just passed away, recite: Please consider this, all who have passed away, named so-and-so. From beginningless time until now, whatever roots of virtue have arisen from non-attachment, non-hatred, and non-ignorance, done by himself, or specifically for him, offering to the Lama and the Three Jewels, giving torma to the Dakinis and Dharma Protectors, making offerings to the ocean of the Sangha assembly, reciting profound dharani mantras, proclaiming the immaculate teachings of the Sugata, entering into great mandalas and receiving empowerments, and so forth—all these roots of virtue, may they all follow and accompany the deceased, named so-and-so, wherever he may be born in the three realms, six realms, or the intermediate state of existence! Having entered, may he be liberated from whatever suffering and causes of suffering exist in each of the six realms! May he perfect the two accumulations, purify the two obscurations, and quickly attain perfect and complete enlightenment! May he quickly be liberated from all fear of demons and Yama! May he quickly be liberated from all the fears of the bardo, such as the four fearful sounds and the three perilous precipices! May he never be born in the evil realms or places of downfall! May he be born in the happy realms and heavens! May he obtain a fully endowed human body with the eighteen qualities of leisure and fortune! May he be born supreme among noble families! May he be born supreme among those who are learned and uphold morality! May he be born supreme among those who delight in generosity and are conscientious and have shame! Recite this three times.
