The Vipassanā (insight meditation) that focuses on the object. The intermediate one focuses on the Four Noble Truths, mainly preventing the self of the person. The latter is the Vipassanā to be meditated on here. The *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* (Explanations of the Thought) and the *Śrāvakabhūmi* (Hearer's Ground) explain many differences. 1-223 In the commentary on 'continuous expression of mind as an ornament,' etc., Maitreya shows the eleven mental activities of Vasubandhu, and explains the eleven aspects of Vipassanā. The former ones are for seeking views, the middle ones are for meditating on views, and the latter ones are the classifications of Vipassanā that emphasize views. In short, in the sutras and *Stages of Meditation*, using the example of fire arising from the friction of two pieces of wood, the wisdom of investigation and analysis arises at the time of combination. Eventually, the wood is also burned by the fire itself, and both the fire and the wood are extinguished, illustrating that during the actual practice of Vipassanā, thoughts and expressions are not perceived. Secondly, the way to establish the view of Maitreya and his followers. In the system of Nāgārjuna, the views of Prāsaṅgika and Svātantrika are explained in detail elsewhere. To write a little about the difficult points: In reality, all phenomena of grasping and being grasped are determined to be merely appearances of one's own mind. And the ultimate nature of one's own mind is primordially without any inherent existence, not stained by objects and signs, free from the three states of arising, abiding, and ceasing, beyond the scope of constant thought, free from duality, without interruption, like the sky. However, for beginners, there is only a slight difference in the experience and subtle awareness, like an illusion. 1-224 Without leaving any place for understanding, recognizing and establishing through experience is the correct view. The stages of Vipassanā meditation have been explained. Doubts and Analyses on How to Practice View and Meditation Third, Doubts and Analyses on How to Practice View and Meditation: Including: the distinction between analytical meditation and stabilizing meditation, how to perform analysis and stabilization in Śamatha (calm abiding) and Vipassanā, how to perform analysis and stabilization in the practice of view, and the analysis of doubts about the view itself. The first point is: both scholars and yogis need both analytical meditation and stabilizing meditation, but with different emphasis. Not making subsequent inferences, but conducting rational and logical analysis is analytical meditation; making things into the samadhi (meditative absorption) of the three paths is stabilizing meditation. The former mainly relies on the treatises of Asaṅga and Vasubandhu, and the latter is the lineage of Brahmā and others. The ultimate purpose of both is the same view. However, it is impossible to realize the view solely through rational and logical analysis. Paṇḍitas (scholars) also rely on the oral instructions of Tantra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, relying on the reasoning of the Madhyamaka school, it is unreasonable to say that one should not speculate. The second point is that both Shamatha (tranquility) and Vipassana (insight) require both speculation and focus, only differing in degree. When Shamatha and Vipassana are combined, there is no need to alternate between speculation and focus. The third point is that when seeking a view, if one can distinguish the self-characteristics and general characteristics of the wisdom arising from hearing and thinking, it is very helpful for obtaining definite understanding. For seeking the correct view, the individual awareness of the wisdom arising from meditation is very important, that is, in focused meditation, maintaining mindfulness without distraction. The fourth point is that if we put aside many trivial details and only state the main points, then the direct realization of the view of emptiness only occurs when one attains the state of an Arya (noble being). The scope of practice for ordinary beings, as mentioned earlier, is to obtain the view of emptiness through speculation and focus. These all need to be examined through meditation. In addition, there are some key points to summarize: Divide the night into three parts, and in the first and last thirds, diligently practice yoga with mindfulness and awareness. When sleeping, place your right foot on your left foot and sleep in the lion posture. It is said that doing so will prevent the body from becoming lax, prevent deep sleep, prevent forgetting mindfulness when falling asleep, and prevent dreaming of sinful and bad dreams. Mindfulness refers to focusing on what you want to do during the day before falling asleep. It is said that this can guide you to do good deeds even in sleep. Awareness refers to when mindfulness arises, if afflictions etc. arise, you should be aware of them and eliminate them. It is said that this reduces confusion in sleep and dreams. In order for sleep to nourish the body, rest briefly only to strengthen the body, and after waking up in the morning, strive to do good deeds. Generate the sign of light and focus your mind on it, and then fall asleep. It is said that this prevents the mind from falling into darkness, keeps you awake, wakes you up in time, and increases the effort to do good deeds in the morning. Meditate on each of the marks and signs of the Tathagata, which can accumulate hundreds of merits. This is from the 'Bhadrakalpika Sutra'. Mindfulness and awareness can be distinguished by coarse or fine ways, because clear and powerful mindfulness includes awareness. As the commentary to the 'Madhyantavibhaga' says: 'Mindfulness abides in awareness.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
