At that time, when the monks from the four directions gathered, I thought, 'This Dzogchen (རྫོགས་ཆེན་) view is very high, but the conduct is not stable.' 'Now I must seek a Dharma that combines study, contemplation, and practice So I left those monks and went to Lhasa (ལྷ་ས་), བསྟོད་ལུ་, and ཤོ་མ་ར (place names), and in front of བསྐོར་ནི་རུ་པ (person's name), I requested the 'Root Tantra of Mahamudra' (ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོའི་རྩ་རྒྱུད) which is 'not abiding in anything' (རབ་ཏུ་མི་གནས་པ), the 'Explanatory Tantra' (བཤད་རྒྱུད་) which is 'inconceivable' (བསམ་མི་ཁྱབ་པ), the 'Secret Tantra' (གསང་བ་རྒྱུད་) which is 'non-dual' (གཉིས་སུ་མེད་པ), 'immaculate' (རྙོག་པ་མེད་པ), and the 'Praise of Names' (མཚན་བརྗོད་མ་ཧཱ་མཱ་ཡཱ་). I also requested the transmission of Black Sound (སྒྲ་ནག་) along with its sadhana, and the tantra of Vajrabhairava (འཇིགས་བྱེད་) along with its sadhana. In short, I requested all the teachings of བསྐོར་བ (person's name). Through offerings, requests, and practice, I made the lama very happy. The lama said happily, 'Even if I now had a monk worth one 'zho' (ཞོ་, a Tibetan unit of volume) of white mustard seed, there is no one like you, Khyungo Naljorpa (ཁྱུང་པོ་རྣལ་འབྱོར་པ་), who has completely inherited all my teachings.' He said this many times. In this way, I became proficient in these teachings and developed great interest in the Dharma. However, I was not very satisfied with the signs or indications of common accomplishments. I thought, 'There is no one greater than this accomplished one in Tibet now.' But this lama does not seem to know how to obtain all the supreme and common accomplishments. Therefore, I resolved to go to India. So I went back to my hometown and asked my aunt and her husband for money. They had no children but had a lot of wealth, so I borrowed gold and turquoise from them. The old man said, 'You are a bad person! First you abandoned those monks of Bon (བོན་) and Dzogchen (རྫོགས་ཆེན་) who served you, and now you have become destitute, with neither retinue nor wealth.' He did not want to give me gold and turquoise. But the aunt said, 'I don't want you to be in debt. Here are eleven 'zho' (ཞོ་, a Tibetan unit of volume) of turquoise for you. Please bring back a Dharma from India that can help us old couple.' So, I sold the fields, and with the gold and turquoise offered by the former monks, I had a total of ten 'sang' (སྲང་, a Tibetan unit of weight). I sold the turquoise in the upper region and exchanged it for a lot of gold, and then I took this gold and went to Nepal (བལ་པོ་). There, I met the Pandit (པཎྜི་ཏ་) Bhasunamati and offered him three 'sang' (སྲང་, a Tibetan unit of weight) of gold, learned grammar (བིད་པ་ཏ་), received the initiation of the 'General Secret Tantra' (གསང་བ་སྤྱི་རྒྱུད་), and requested fifty transmissions of sadhanas of the Kriya (ཀྲི་ཡ) section, including Auspicious Army (དཔུང་བཟང་), Supreme Wisdom (རིག་པ་མཆོག་), Good Accomplishment (ལེགས་པ་གྲུབ་པ་), and Unfailing Noose (དོན་ཡོད་ཞགས་པ་), etc. After that, I met Pandit Athula Vajra again. He said, 'Either I will teach you the Dharma in Nepal, or I will send you to Vajrasana (རྡོ་རྗེ་གདན་) to meet the Vajrasana master who has been prophesied as the second Buddha.' I thought, 'Now I must go to Vajrasana.' So I went to Vajrasana. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Langri Tang)……’

Thinking that I must go to Vajrasana (the Diamond Throne, the place where Buddha attained enlightenment). I, Khyungpo Naljor, unable to bear the suffering of samsara (cyclic existence), a great fear arose from the depths of my heart. This endless samsara is filled with immeasurable suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and unimaginable suffering of the lower realms. I fear birth more than death, because birth always follows the trail of karma, causing me to wander helplessly in samsara. I and all sentient beings will eventually face death, and there is nothing we can do about it. Since death is inevitable, I might as well give up my life for the sake of the Dharma. I no longer care about my body and life, nor do I linger in Nepal. For the source of a thousand Buddhas, for the place where the Teacher attained enlightenment—Vajrasana—I resolutely set out. I offered fifty gold coins to the guardian of the noble Vajrasana, who was prophesied by the great Shakyamuni Buddha as the second Buddha, thinking that I was meeting the Buddha in person. My body hair stood on end, tears streamed down my face, and immense devotion arose from the depths of my heart. I respectfully folded my hands and said: 'Please, as the Khenpo (abbot) of the Sangha (community), teach me the Vinaya (monastic discipline).' 'Please generate Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment) for me, and teach me the Mahayana (Great Vehicle) teachings. Please grant me the empowering secret mantra initiation, and teach me the generation stage and completion stage that lead to liberation.' After I prayed in this way, the noble guardian of Vajrasana showed a joyful smile and said: 'You come from the borderland inhabited by red-faced Rakshasas (demons), where people are full of wrong views, have mixed lineages, and are full of doubts. They chase after various Dharmas but cannot truly practice, slander each other, and are full of jealousy. They are just superficial historians of the Dharma.' 'From such a country, there has actually appeared a fortunate one like you, a brave person with a fearless spirit. In order to seek the pure Dharma, you do not linger in Nepal, you spare no life, overcome difficulties and dangers, and travel through the lands of India. Fortunate Khyungpo Naljor, in a past life you were a Shravaka (Hearer, a follower of Hinayana Buddhism) in the northern snowy land (referring to Tibet), possessing immeasurable miraculous powers.' 'You were named "Great Miraculous Power," and you subdued those who held wrong views, the Tirthikas (non-Buddhist practitioners), as well as the Nagas (serpent deities), Yakshas (guardian deities), Bhutas (ghosts), and sentient beings. You led the Shravaka Sangha, flying freely in the sky like a bird, passing through mountains and rivers without obstruction, able to manifest one as many, and many as one, and so on. You were a great Arhat (one who has eradicated all defilements). Therefore, neither I nor all the wise men of India can be your Khenpo. In the northern snowy land, Langri Tang...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
