Mind! Being attached to worldly pleasures is not the conduct of a virtuous practitioner. Therefore, I have abandoned the ways of village life with its entanglements and always rely on contentment and few desires. I consider going in and out of villages as a means to tame other beings who are to be trained. Seeking gain and honor is not the conduct of a virtuous practitioner. Therefore, I have abandoned the ways of a merchant who desires profit and always abide in remote places. As it was said. The way to have views and practices praised by the holy ones is: In a letter from Jamyang Namkha Rinchen ('jam dbyangs nam mkha' rin chen) to Tsongkhapa, it says: 'Nowadays, there are many who boast of being wise, but few have the wisdom to distinguish between what is right and wrong. Like wild animals following the tracks of a dead rabbit, most people are merely following words blindly.' 'Although there are many who are known as wise, virtuous, and good, few are truly devoted to the teachings of the Buddha. Like farmers and merchants who desire profit, most people are striving for success in this life.' 'Here, some are intoxicated by the poison of wrong teachings, some are attached to the peaks of wrong views, others are immoral, indulging in desires and exhausting their merit, and many are tired of waving empty husks without fruit.' 'They pretend not to contradict others and themselves, like covering iron filings with gold. Their hearts are full of defilements, but outwardly they appear noble, and there are many teachers who pretend to be religious in this way.' 'Therefore, I cannot tolerate those who, with malicious intent, defile the teachings of the Buddha with wrong teachings.' 'Even if I slightly distinguish between what is right and wrong, many people here criticize me.' 'Even if I do not please the world, it does not matter. But if I am reproached by the holy ones, living is like being dead. Therefore, if my views and actions contradict the teachings, please, holy ones, rebuke me.' 'Since I became a renunciate in the Buddha's teachings, until I could distinguish between what is right and wrong, whatever I did with my body, speech, and mind, I strictly followed the Buddha's teachings.' 'Due to the strong force of habitual afflictions from beginningless time, even if I do something slightly wrong, I immediately feel remorse, like remembering eating poison, and again act according to the Dharma.' 'Because I have seen the sun-like mandala of the Buddha's teachings, which has a thousand rays of light that distinguish reality, I do not respect the fireflies of other schools that emit faint light in the darkness of ignorance.' 'Because I control the island of precious scriptures, possessing the treasure of eloquent teachings of Nagarjuna (kLu sgrub, Sanskrit: Nāgārjuna, Nagarjuna, 龙树) and the Dragon King (klu dbang), which can fulfill all desires, I am not deceived by the bonds of wrong teachings.' 'I abide in the reservoir of water that is free from the two extremes, holding the tradition of the majestic Dragon King Nagarjuna.' The light of my view blazes... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah! Majestic! A thousand hostile wings cannot overcome you! For the one who destroys the high mountain of the view of the perishable aggregates, even if there are a thousand vajra thunderbolts of reason, what can I do for these beings who wear the strong armor of ignorance? Therefore, even if they speak of possessing Dharma, I do not see any benefit in this present time. Therefore, desiring to taste the nectar of samadhi, my mind inclines towards a solitary place. Thus it was said. The way to rely on the holy guru: Like the crown ornament of beings, Dharma Lord Sodgyal (chos rje bsod rgyal), like the son of the Victorious Ones, Tokme Zangpo Pal (thogs med bzang po dpal), Mati Panchen, Great Panchen Jangtse (ma ti paN chen paN chen byang rtse), and the lord of scholars, Nyawon Kunga (nya dbon kun dga'), etc., in order to receive their kindness, I diligently relied on twenty gurus with reverence for a long time. Thus it was said. The way of seeking the intention of the Buddha: From the 'Garland of Jewels of Letters': To the one who has completely comprehended all the truths of knowledge in his heart, and compassionately shows them to others, we have faith in that Buddha. To the illuminator who dispels the darkness of ignorance, the Dharma, which is the nature of scripture and realization, and to the noble Sangha who possess the eyes that see as it is and how it is, I also pay homage. Those who do not hold the Buddha's teachings in high regard, who are like merchants selling the precious Dharma, who are slaves to desire, followers of craving, and those who boast of being wise, are only names. Seeing the Buddha's teachings as precious as the pupil of the eye, and always striving to open the scriptures, to the upholders of the teachings whose bodies of wisdom are nourished by the nectar of scripture and reason, I send this message to your ears. May the wish-fulfilling jewel of the Buddha's teachings, the source of benefit and happiness, not be stained by the mud of false accusations, and may we always strive to cleanse it with the Ganges River of pure scripture and reason. Thus it was said. The way the Buddha first turned the Wheel of Dharma: In the sacred land, the Buddha, with a body free from desire, first turned the Wheel of Dharma of eighty-four thousand teachings for those who were devoted to inferior and vast teachings. In order to subdue beings with attachment, he also manifested as the form of a Chakravartin king, and turned many tantric Wheels of Dharma for those who were devoted to profound teachings. Thus it was said. The way the three councils came about: After the Buddha's parinirvana, in Rajagriha, it was presided over by Kashyapa ('od srung), the close disciple Ananda (kun dga' bo). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
