Goshri The venerable one, fully known as Chenpo Chokyi Gyaltsen Palsangpo, was the eldest of the four sons of the twenty-fourth lineage holder. Thus, his father, and his mother, who was also called Gyalmo Sonam Bum, in the Earth-Ox year (Tibetan calendar), in the first month of spring, the venerable one was born in the sacred Sakya Monastery with many wondrous signs. As the poem says: 'From youth, intelligent and upright, speech frank and gentle, loving-kindness and clarity unceasing, these are the signs of nobility. Thunderbolts cannot destroy, nor can mighty giants withstand, speech that frightens demons, this comes from the Khon lineage. Good conduct, knowing shame and embarrassment, behavior complete with elegance, possessing lineage and ancestry, to you, supreme being, I pay homage.' Regarding the legend of unceasing clarity, the elderly and knowledgeable ones unanimously say that from the time he could speak, until the age of six or seven, while sleeping, he knew everything that others said and did, and could speak of it without hindrance, which amazed everyone. The venerable one received Red Tara teachings from his uncle, a spiritual friend, and received the Six Dharmas of Niguma from the wise and accomplished Phakpa, which made many of his past experiences become recognizable as experiences of clarity. From the age of eight, the venerable one had the ability to control, practice, transform, and view pure lands in his dreams, and the power of his dreams was very strong. It is said that in this lineage, there will be a great dream yogi, but the venerable one said that this was because of too many distractions. Even saying this much shows that he has gained control over dreams. The venerable one also said that in his youth, he often felt restless due to impermanence and renunciation, and later realized that this was a practice experience and was happy about it. The venerable one's second great quality is his magnificent appearance. Even when he sits in the midst of an ocean-like assembly, his outstanding appearance makes it difficult for others to look at him directly: 'A body as solid as a copper mountain, a face as bright as the full moon, eyes as clear as lotus flowers, a forehead as curved as the new moon, a smile as radiant as light, an upper body as majestic as a lion, a gait as elegant as an elephant, I never tire of looking at you, I pay homage.' Even having attained enlightenment, he remains youthful, with sparse white hair, no wrinkles, and no impurities on his body. He is especially radiant, exuding the fragrance of discipline. His complexion is healthy, and all sorts of wonderful qualities are evident. The third great quality is perfect enjoyment: possessing supreme enjoyments such as supports for body, speech, and mind made of gold, silver, black agarwood, white and red sandalwood, etc., and immeasurable palaces built by oneself or offered by others. There are also wondrous supports for the body made of silk, threads, and so on; the entire Kangyur (Tibetan Buddhist canon) written in gold as a support for speech; and immeasurable wondrous supports for the mind such as golden vajras and bells. In front of these, offerings are made, including a golden wheel with a thousand spokes, golden vases, and seven sets of golden mandalas, each adorned with various kinds of precious jewels. Similarly, there are immeasurable Gugusha incense offerings and samaya substances. And immeasurable pearl umbrellas, victory banners, pearl garlands, and so on. Furthermore, there are silk thangkas, tents, umbrellas, victory banners, pennants, curtains, etc., made of various kinds of silk brocades, as detailed in the Great Treasure Trove. Common enjoyments include gold and silver bushels, precious turquoise, orpiment, lapis lazuli, coral, conch shells, pearl towers, Salep Bram, rhinoceros horns, right-spiraling conch shells, and various other jewels and precious stones, as well as immeasurable silks and brocades. Also, tea, horses, mules, and other luxuries from China and Tibet have come into your possession. In short, I pay homage to you, who possess immeasurable and unsurpassed wealth, both common and extraordinary, including supports for body, speech, and mind, samaya substances and offerings, jewels and silks, grains and livestock, and fine houses! The fourth great quality is perfect wisdom: from a young age, you have been thoroughly versed in reading, writing, arithmetic, the eight types of divination, and the essentials of legal treatises, as well as most areas of inner and outer knowledge, possessing unobstructed wisdom and courage. This can be understood through the various aspects of wisdom that will be explained.
