Thereafter, he listened to the collections of Madhyamaka treatises (dBu ma rigs tshogs). Then, he went to Sakya (sa skya) and completed the subsequent tasks such as the offerings for the younger brother of the teacher (slob dpon gCung). On the way to deliver the offerings led by a large amount of gold to Kyangthur (rKyang thur), he met Lama Shakya Shri (bla ma shAkya shrI) at a spring and began to listen to the supreme Dharma. The teacher opened the Tibetan scriptures for him to listen, and the young paṇḍitas (paN chen tsho) ridiculed him, saying, 'What is the use of the Lama opening the Tibetan scriptures?' The Lama stopped reciting and said, 'Then you read.' The teacher read the Tibetan scriptures in a Sanskrit (sa skRi ta) tone, which pleased the Lama very much, who said, 'What are you ridiculing? The Sakyapas (sa skya pa) themselves know.' At that time, Dhana Shila (dhA na shI la), a great scholar and disciple of the Lama, studied Pramana (tshad ma) with him. He also studied grammar and Pramanavarttika (tshad ma rnam 'grel) etc. with the Nepalese Sangha Shri (saM gha shrI). The Dharma Lord said, 'I am very fortunate, there is no one more proficient in grammar than Sangha Shri in the east and west of India (rgya gar), and he has come to me.' Then, the teacher went to Kyangthur (rKyang thur), offered the previous offerings to the teacher, and then returned. Lama Shakya Shri (bla ma shAkya shrI) went to U-Tsang (dbUs), and the teacher invited Paṇḍita Sugata Shri (paN+Di ta su gha ta shrI) to Sakya (sa skya). He listened to and mastered grammar, Pramana, poetics, and metrics, etc. Later, Lama Shakya Shri (bla ma shAkya shrI) went to Tsang (gtsang) and stayed in Nyungchung (nyungs chung). The teacher went to listen to the Dharma and intended to become a monk. He presented a letter requesting ordination to Jetsun (rje btsun), which was granted. At the age of twenty-seven, he asked the Lama (bla ma) to be his Khenpo (mkhan po), Slobpon Khyibo Lhasepa (slob dpon spyi bo lhas pa) to be his Karmacharya (las chog), and Geshe Zhusangde (dge bshes zhus gsang sde) to be his instructor Acharya (ston pa). In the temple (gtsug lag khang) of Nyangme Gyangong (nyang smad rgyan gong), also known as Zer (zer), he was tonsured there. Apart from the robes (na bza'), he took vows in Nyungchung (nyungs chung), and was ordained in the midst of the Bhikshu Sangha (dge slong gi dge 'dun), adorning himself with pure morality. The Dharma Lord (rje pa) was very pleased with his ordination, saying, 'Now that you are ordained, strive to practice.' A worn-out cushion (jo gdan thu mo) was placed in front of the Dharma Lord (chos rje pa), who said that someone would criticize his temporary diet and posture, etc. In addition, he listened to the Dharma from the Khenpo (mkhan po) many times, listening to the three treatises of the Seven Treatises on Valid Cognition (tshad ma rab tu byed pa sde bdun), as well as all the extensive commentaries and their branches on the Ornament of Clear Realization (rgyan) and Dharmottara (chos mchog).
