Biographies of Respected Gurus 1-4 ༄༅། །The Biography of the Respected Guru. The intermediate history derived from Jowo Gayadhara. Herein lies the biography of the esteemed Guru. I prostrate with reverence at the feet of the esteemed Guru. Whatever is outer, inner, and secret, the ultimate interdependence, the one with the rosary, and Manjushri (藏文:འཇམ་དབྱངས།,梵文:मञ्जुश्री,Mañjuśrī) the powerful Vajradhara (藏文:རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་།,梵文:वज्रधर,Vajradhara). The glorious and peerless Guru, co-emergent with one's own mind, inseparable, I bow to the lotus feet of the one who teaches dependent origination. I prostrate to Dromi (藏文:འབྲོག་མི།) and other glorious Gurus. Although the history of Tibet has already been clearly written, I have great faith in the words of the Dharma Lord, and therefore I humbly write this down. Here, I will relate the history of the Guru of Tibet as told by Sakya Pandita The Dharma wheel of Drompa Gyang (藏文:གྲོམ་པ་རྒྱང་།) was consecrated from afar by Padmasambhava (藏文:པད་འབྱུང་།), but its true name is Namdak Dribsel (藏文:རྣམ་དག་སྒྲིབ་སེལ།) Temple. In the past, when the king and ministers were building Lhasa (藏文:ལྷ་ས།), they built four temples to suppress the land: Jangphrang in Yaru, Gyang in Rulhak, Tramdruk in Yonru, and Katsal in Suru. The owner of Gyang, the three Lhatsun brothers of Lhatse, consulted and said, 'We need a Guru as an object of offering, who is the best?' 1-5 At that time, Loton Dorje Wangchuk (藏文:ལོ་སྟོན་རྡོ་རྗེ་དབང་ཕྱུག) was in Gyang Gong. He had two disciples, one named Gya Shakya Yönnu (藏文:རྒྱ་ཤཱཀྱ་གཞོན་ནུ་) and the other named Se Yeshe Tsöndrü (藏文:སེ་ཡེ་ཤེས་བརྩོན་འགྲུས). They were invited, and Se became the Khenpo and Gya became the Acharya. At that time, Taklo Yönnu Tsöndrü (藏文:སྟག་ལོ་གཞོན་ནུ་བརྩོན་འགྲུས་) and Dromi Shakya Yeshe (藏文:འབྲོག་མི་ཤཱཀྱ་ཡེ་ཤེས་) were ordained. This great Guru Dromi was a descendant of the Drilchen Chudé (藏文:དྲིལ་ཆེན་ཆུ་སྡེ།) family, from the Bantsö family. Dromi's name was also taken from the names of the Khenpo and Acharya. Although the Khenpo and Acharya had many disciples, only Taklo and Dromi were called translators, and they were able to endure hardship. In particular, the Acharya cared for them greatly for the sake of the Dharma, and sent them a lot of gold dust, telling them to go to India to study, and instructing them on three things: like the root of the Buddha's teachings is the Vinaya, like the essence of the teachings is the Prajnaparamita, and like the quintessence of the teachings is the Secret Mantra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is said that those people should extensively study subjects such as phonetics and metrics to become scholars. The Dharma Lord's oral instruction seems to be arranged according to the understanding of the Dharma. Then, the Great Lama had Bigpa learn to ride a horse, and it is said that he only knew that Bigpa wanted to listen to the Dharma, but he only understood a little spoken language and also knew some Tibetan Buddhism. There are also many roads, starting from the Brahma Gate of Mangyu, the obstacles are small when going, and it is beneficial to the Dharma when returning, auspicious and successful, so he left from there. Then, the two of them went from Mangyu to Nepal, and for the sake of washing away sins, there is a place in Nepal called Bharoham Thung, also called Tsaha Angu, also called Nepali Syeter, the real name is Shantabhadra (Shantarakshita). They requested empowerment from a Nepali Pandit named Shantabhadra (Shantarakshita), whose Tibetan name is Zhiba Zangpo (Peaceful Goodness), and secretly listened to the secret teachings for a year, and also listened to some phonetics. Then, we asked him: 'We are going to India, what kind of scholars are there in India? What is the best way to do it?' The Pandit said: 'It is very good for you to go to India to study the true Dharma. If you go to India, my teacher, known as the second omniscient one of the debate era, the scholar Shantipa, is in India at Odantapuri, Nalanda, Somapuri, etc., but in Magadha's Bhrikamalasila Temple, he is one of the six gate scholars who are proficient in listening and teaching, go to him.' So they went there. At that time, the six gate scholars of Bhrikamalasila Temple were: the guardian of the eastern gate, Ratna (Jewel) · Rinchen (Precious) · Akara (Source) · Shantipa (Peaceful), mainly inquiring about phonetics and metrics. Similarly, the south is Vagisvara · Drakpa (Fame), he is the teacher who directly heard the Dharma from the Supreme Tara, a great scholar, especially inquiring about phonetics, metrics, poetry, and all the scriptures. The west is Sherab Jungne (Wisdom Born) · Lodro (Intelligence), especially inquiring about the tenets of heretics. The north is Jowo · Naropa, mainly inquiring about the Mahayana Dharma and receiving the scriptures. The two central pillars are Rinchen Dorje (Precious Vajra) and Jñanasrimitra (Wisdom Glorious Friend), Tibetan is Yeshe Washe Nyen (Wisdom Glorious Friend), the two of them are called the great pillars, but it is said that their merits are not as great as others. The Great Lama Dromi heard the sacred Vinaya and Prajnaparamita from the teacher Shantipa. He also heard all of the teacher's own commentary on the Prajnaparamita in twenty thousand verses, 'The Essence of the Best', etc. Then, he heard many secret teachings, such as the Hevajra Tantra three continuums, Chakrasamvara, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
