Therefore, it is impossible to lie. Because in the teachings of the Blessed One, it is also said that there exist phenomena composed of aggregates, elements, sources, and atoms. Therefore, one cannot deny external objects as the Mind-Only school does. This is what they believe. // The view of those who speak of Mind-Only is that the Mind-Only school believes that mind exists ultimately. One must avoid, like the Hearers, falsely affirming the complete non-existence of external objects, and like the Great Madhyamikas, denying that mind also exists ultimately. If mind does not exist ultimately, then there is no basis for accumulating merit, and there is no meaning in attaining liberation. Therefore, mind, at the time of sentient beings, mind-consciousness exists only for a moment. What now appears as an external object is mind. From beginningless time, one part of the mind's object is mistakenly perceived as an external object, and one part of the object is mistakenly perceived as mind. This is examined by conceptual thought, and merely a habit is perceived as a habit. Therefore, although external objects arise from consciousness, they appear as matter. Mind is the essence of consciousness, so it appears as awareness. External objects are examined by conceptual thought, so they appear as distinct. Mind is the essence of conceptual thought, so it appears as one. External objects are also emanations of consciousness, so they are related. If external atoms existed independently, then consciousness and matter would be two different things, and because there is no connection, it could not be known by consciousness. Furthermore, atoms could not appear as distinct. Therefore, external objects do not exist. Mind, having lost its awareness, appears as an external object. Mind exists ultimately. If it did not exist, then attaining liberation would be meaningless, so one cannot say that it does not exist. For this reason, mind, at the time of sentient beings, is the alaya-consciousness, which is constantly permanent, existing only for a moment. At the time of the noble ones, it is wisdom, which is constantly permanent, existing only for a moment. Thus, having eliminated the extremes of existence and non-existence, we abide on the Middle Way, which is called Mind-Only Madhyamika. // The view of the Yogachara Madhyamika school is that, conventionally, in accordance with Mind-Only, all phenomena of appearance and existence appear due to the delusion of mind, so external objects are not considered to exist independently. One must avoid, like the Hearers, falsely affirming the complete non-existence of external objects, and like the Great Madhyamikas

Therefore, it refutes the extreme view that the mind always exists. Having eliminated both extremes, the great Madhyamaka path, which is separate from both extremes, is ours. Saying this, the view that the mind exists in the ultimate sense is placed on the conventional level, and it is believed that the mind is not established in the ultimate sense. If the mind exists in the ultimate sense, it would be no different from the heretics, and that would not be right. It is also said in the scriptures: What you think is "Ma," that is my wife. What is your ultimate truth, that is my conventional truth. It means that what you think is a place of offering is my wife, like a slave. What is your ultimate truth, that is my conventional truth. The constant continuity of knowledge, the momentary conventionality is like illusion, and if measured by the moment, it is not established in the ultimate sense. Because the previous moment has passed, the present does not remain, and the next moment has not come, so it cannot be established. It is believed that in the conventional sense, it appears by the power of dependent origination. In the ultimate sense, neither body nor mind is established. According to the Mind-Only school, for the object that is empty of nature, there is no need to cut it off with annihilation, nor is it necessary to give rewards to prove that the mind exists. When both object and mind are in front of the noble ones, even if it is believed that wisdom is a constant continuation of moments, it is not established in the ultimate sense. It is said in the scriptures: Saying "wisdom, wisdom," saying wisdom itself is also accumulation. Therefore, the nature of the mind is without beginning or end. The Sūtra-Madhyamaka school is consistent with all the views of the Śrāvakayāna Sūtra school. On the level of conventional illusion, it is consistent with their school. For example, a magician uses wood and stones, blessed by the mantra of magic, to manifest magical horses and elephants, and so on. Similarly, although it temporarily appears relying on the mantra of magic, it is like having no nature. On the level of conventional illusion, both object and mind appear without deception by the power of dependent origination, but in the ultimate sense, the object is not composed of six parts, and the mind is not composed of moments, and it is believed that things do not exist. After practicing for three great kalpas, not seeing is
