Therefore, vows must be kept. In general, there are millions of vows, but the root lies in the vows of body, speech, and mind. Among them, the vows of the body include: towards the Vajra Master, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Yidam deities, Dakinis, Vajra brothers and sisters, not being disrespectful, fighting, killing, stealing, beating, speaking evil, having wrong views, and all other unwholesome things, do not do them, keep the vows. The five elements of the outer container world, the bodies of the six realms of sentient beings in the inner content, and one's own body, are all pervaded by the seeds of the deities, so keep the vows. To these, offer prostrations, offerings, praises, and with respect, cultivate pure perception without bias. The vows of speech include: not going against the Guru's instructions, not despising the Buddha's teachings and treatises, not cutting off the essence of the Yidam deity's mantra, and not generating hatred and anger towards all manifested sounds. The vows of mind include: not transmitting profound instructions to those who are not vessels, not telling others about the instructions, essence, and practices of secret mantras, and not letting oneself be distracted for even a moment, but generating virtuous thoughts dedicated to the deity. The benefits of keeping vows in this way are: by keeping the vows of the body, diseases of the four elements will not arise, one's own body will benefit sentient beings, and all sentient beings who see, touch, are touched by the shadow, or come within sight will obtain happiness and be reborn in the higher realms. The body will become beautiful and pleasing, and in the future, relying on this body, one will be able to attain Buddhahood, transforming into a Buddha body and relics. Blessings will descend upon the place where one resides. After transferring from this life, one will be able to see all the wondrous palaces in all the Buddha lands. One will be able to emanate emanations in front of each and every sentient being. All these emanations will possess the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks, have a fathom of light, and be complete with all the qualities of the Buddha's body, able to accomplish the immeasurable benefit of sentient beings. If the vows of the body gradually cannot be kept and are broken, then at that time, one will be afflicted with many diseases and have a short life, one's appearance will be ugly, everything will turn into enemies, and whatever being sees your broken vows

Moreover, all contact will be reborn in the lower realms, and after the end of life, will be reborn in the Naraka hell. There is no time for escape and liberation. If the vow of speech is kept according to the scriptures, the voice will be pleasant, everyone will speak the truth, gods, demons, and humans will all obey orders, understand the meaning of all Dharmas, and all profound meanings will naturally appear. Whoever hears his words, diseases and evil spirits will be pacified, life and merit will increase, and everyone will be reborn in the heavens. All wishes will be fulfilled, and his preaching of the Dharma will liberate beings from samsara. For the future benefit of all beings, he will be able to proclaim the eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma with the voice of Brahma. If the vow of speech is broken, one will be inarticulate in this life, people will hate each other, quarrels and lawsuits will increase, no one will believe his words, and no one will come to listen to the Dharma. The fault of speech will harm both oneself and others. Whoever hears his words will be inauspicious, be reborn in the lower realms, and in the next life, five hundred black buffalo pegs will be nailed into the tongue, turning into a being who plows the field with his tongue in hell. If the vow of mind is kept without breaking it according to the scriptures, unwholesome thoughts will decrease, and even if he stays in the place where he resides, meditation will arise, and all beings in that area will become Buddhas. After the end of life, he will also be able to manifest the emanations of mind in front of each being, and will be able to place all beings on the state of perfect Buddhahood. If the vow of mind is broken, only unwholesome thoughts such as mental obscurations will arise, and everything he sees and thinks will be inauspicious, diseases and harms will increase, he will often be restless, suffer from heart wind and epilepsy, and meditation will not arise. All those associated with him will fall into the lower realms, and in the next life, they will also be reborn in the depths of hell, with no time for liberation. Therefore, one should think about these faults and merits and keep the vows. Also, from the profound terma of the great tertön Ratna Lingpa: Listen, sons of fortunate lineage! Vows in general are inconceivable, but the root lies in the three: body, speech, and mind. Among them, regarding the vow of body: disrespect towards the Vajra Master, the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, the Lama, Yidam, Dakini, Dharma Protectors, Dharma brothers and sisters, in short, one's own body, all beings, and all elements, stealing and robbing, killing and cutting, beating.
