Thinking in between, recite "Oṃ nīlaṃ bara dhāra vajra pāṇi hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ phaṭ svāhā (藏文:ཨོཾ་ནཱི་ལཾ་བ་ར་དྷཱ་ར་བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ་ཕཊ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ नीलं बर धार वज्र पाणि हूँ हूँ फट् फट् स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ nīlaṃ bara dhāra vajra pāṇi hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ phaṭ svāhā, Literal meaning: Om, blue, holder, vajra, hand, Hum, Hum, Phat, Phat, Svaha)" one hundred and eight times, etc., and dissolve the deity into nectar. Then, as before, perform the generation-in-front practice, offering ritual cakes, etc. Have the students bathe and wear new clothes. After they have paid homage and are seated, in addition to explaining various aspects of the Dharma, especially explain: This great protector deity named Vaiśravaṇa, the great commander of the yakṣas, is the guardian of the teachings of the thousand Buddhas, the protector of the vast Dharma. This great being with great power and authority is, in the ultimate sense, non-different from the Bhagavan, the Lord of Secrets (Vajrapani). However, for the sake of temporarily protecting the Dharma and fulfilling the wishes of practitioners, he manifests as the form of the king of yakṣas. In the past, when the Teacher was residing in the place of the Willow Tree, in the position of the son of Vaiśravaṇa, the supreme musician, Putra Viśvakarma, sat before the Teacher. Then, Vaiśravaṇa rose from his seat, made offerings to the Teacher, and requested him to speak the mantra. Thereupon, the Teacher extensively taught the mantra, the methods of practice, the activities, the mandala, etc., as well as the thoughts of the supreme musician, which are the nature of sixteen chapters. Many accomplished masters have received this teaching, and there are many transmitted oral instructions of treasure teachings. Among these, this one is related to the treasure of Nyalpa Nyima Sherab. Regarding this, there are four types of practice: outer practice as a deity, inner practice as a māmo, secret practice as Yama, and very secret practice as a ḍākinī. Here, the one being discussed is the outer practice as a deity, known as the "Cloud Bank" cycle. In the past, at Samye Monastery, King Trisong Detsen sent his son, Prince Muṭik Tsenpo, to guard the border as a military commander. At that time, he invited Guru Padmasambhava and other lamas to the Ütsé Barkhang, offered them vast offerings, and requested them to create auspicious circumstances to destroy the border armies, fulfill the wishes of the father king, eliminate obstacles, and bring well-being. The prince and all the ministers made this request. Guru Padmasambhava replied, "I will do so." At that very moment, the great King Vaiśravaṇa and his retinue—the eight horse lords, messengers, masked figures, etc.—filled the sky, appearing in the clouds in front.

He was invited to the middle. He revealed himself in person to the king and his retinue. There, the master gave instructions and imposed vows, entrusting him with the task of carrying out activities. The visions that the king had were drawn into paintings by the border resident Gon Tsun, and consecrated and blessed. Then, the king missed the opportunity to gather the armies of the four directions at Dermo Tang. There, an inconceivable number of troops of various shapes, forms, and appearances gathered. The prince led them and destroyed the monasteries of Tugu, Han, and Hor located in the middle. He took the treasures and offered them to his father. Finally, the prince, in the presence of the master, received the oral instructions of Vajrayana and attained accomplishment through practice. Such practices of Vaisravana, including his recitation and activities, were condensed into profound essentials by the great Orgyen (Padmasambhava), and for the benefit of future generations, were buried as treasures in the Vulture Peak Valley along with statues, which were unearthed by Nyalpa Nyima Sherab. The profound subsequent permission, transmitted successively from Snur Nyima Ozer and others, requires the actions of the master to precede the practice. The actions of the disciple are to offer a mandala and make a request. Bodhichitta Vajra said to the Buddha: Just as you worship and pray, for the sake of completely protecting me, please grant me, the secret lord and his retinue, today. Thus, pray three times. Accumulate merit by confessing appropriately. Then, the disciple receives the realization of Vajrapani. Visualize the torma in front as arising in front, and bless the three places. Invite the wisdom beings with the rays of light of Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ), and combine the sounds of incense burning and musical instruments. Make offerings and praises from argham to shabda. Then, place the vase on the crown of the head. From the body, speech, and mind, the wisdom vows are without defilement. With the pure water of the gods, I now truly bestow empowerment. Om Vajrapani Abhisincatu Mam. (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ་ཏུ་མཱཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्रपाणि अभिशिञ्चतु मां, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajrapāṇi abhiṣiñcatu māṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajrapani, please empower me.) Thus, the water of the vase, with the wisdom nectar of the deity, fills the body and purifies defilements. The remaining water swirls on the crown of the head, visualize the lord of karma adorning with a headdress, and tie the headdress. All the Buddhas praise, the headdress empowerment is bestowed. Om Ratna Mukuta Abhisinca Tram. Thus, the empowerment is bestowed. Then, both the master and disciple become Vajrapani.
