Like a mountain king, unmoving; like a river, unceasing; like heaven and earth, inseparable; like Mount Meru, unchanging. When the meaning of such is realized and stabilized, it is said to be the union of realization and view, thus he spoke. The king asked: What is meditation combined with experience? The teacher replied: Noble one, listen! Meditation combined with experience is: the nature of mind uncorrected, unadulterated, pure, directly genuine, relaxed, not projecting outwards, not drawing inwards, abiding without support, in the state of the great equality of dharmata, abiding like a lamp unmoved by the wind. The experiences therein are: When awareness is dim, dull, interrupted, joyful, clear, without thought, appearances are hazy, attachment is small, and it is inconsistent with worldly behavior, these are signs of experience, so one should not be surprised by anything, and one should not be attached to anything. Thus it is called meditation combined with experience, thus he spoke. The king asked: What is conduct combined with equanimity? The teacher replied: Conduct is without interruption to meditation; in all activities of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, although not intentionally meditating, one should not forget but remember. Like a river flowing continuously. Equanimity means that towards the objects of the five senses, whatever is seen or arises, there is no attachment, and it is taken into account by the nature of reality; there is no acceptance or rejection of anything, like going to the treasure island of gold. Only in this way is conduct combined with equanimity, thus he spoke. Again, the king asked: How to cut through the perilous pass of unchanging conceptual thought? The teacher replied: At the time of equipoise, when conceptual thoughts arise, whatever arises, arises from one's own mind; since the essence of mind is unestablished, the essence of the arising of conceptual thought is empty. For example, just as clouds arise from the sky and dissolve into the sky, conceptual thoughts arise from the mind and dissolve into the nature of mind; conceptual thought is the nature of dharmata, thus he spoke. Cutting through the pass is: When the mind wanders into various thoughts, by focusing awareness on that very point, like a thief in an empty house, conceptual thoughts cannot cause any harm to the empty mind. This is what is called cutting through the perilous pass of wandering conceptual thoughts, thus he spoke.

Sa! The king asked the master: Where does one place the certainty of the unchanging fruit? The master said: Listen, only lord! Bodhicitta is not born from causes, it is not destroyed by conditions, it is not made by skillful Buddhas, it is not made by clever sentient beings. It is what one inherently possesses. When one recognizes it through the guru's instructions, the ancestor of the Buddhas is the mind, like recognizing someone one has known before. In such a state, having gained stability, in the manifest state, all the Buddhas of the three times have become Buddhas. It is like a prince being placed on the throne, without fear or shyness. Since one is spontaneously accomplished as a Buddha from the beginning, it is called having certainty of the fruit. The king asked the master: Where does one cut off the boundaries of faults and errors? The master said: Lord, only lord! If hope and fear arise, it is a fault of not realizing the view. In the unborn nature of awareness, bodhicitta, there is no hope for the Buddha, and no fear of falling into sentient beings. If the object of meditation and the meditator arise, it is a fault of not cutting through the narrow pass of the mind. In the nature of reality, which is free from elaboration, there is no object to be meditated upon, no meditator, and nothing to be meditated upon. If taking and rejecting arise, it is a fault of not cutting off attachment. Therefore, the nature of mind is primordially empty and free. There is no attachment to what is to be accomplished, no rejection of what is to be abandoned, and no taking or rejecting of qualities and faults. If one is attached to possessions, it is a fault of not knowing how to carry them on the path. Therefore, carry them without any focus or grasping, and know that the root of attachment and clinging has been cut off. In summary: Non-distraction is the view, non-doing is the meditation, non-experience is the experience, non-attainment is the fruit. Beyond that, even the Buddhas of the three times have not spoken. Cutting off the boundaries of faults and errors is said to be like that. The king asked the master: How does one eliminate the fault of definite knowledge? The master said: Even if one realizes one's own mind as Buddha, do not abandon the guru. Even if one realizes appearances as mind, do not cut off the root of virtuous actions of conditioned phenomena. Even if one has no hope for the Buddha, worship the Three Jewels as deities. Even if one has no fear of samsara, abandon even the slightest sin. The nature of reality is unchanging.
