Abide in the unwavering awareness, without modification. Having meditated in this way, the measure of the three abidings is: outer appearance abiding, causing adverse conditions to arise as friends; inner illusory body abiding, causing the activities of delusion to cease; secret wind-mind abiding, making it impossible for conceptual thoughts to arise. At that time, signs appear on the body. As for measuring the limit with dreams: first, there are no bad dreams, only good ones; second, one can control dreams; finally, dreams dissolve into the realm of clear light, etc. The details of this should be understood separately. Fixing with the three attainments: by gaining mastery over outer appearance, the conditions of appearance are liberated into the pure land; by gaining mastery over the inner illusory body, the physical body is liberated into the light body; by gaining mastery over the secret awareness, afflictions are liberated into wisdom. The four confidences are: upward, there is hope of attaining Buddhahood, and no doubt of not attaining it; downward, there is hope of not falling into samsara, and no doubt of falling. In short, appearance and increase, reaching the limit and exhaustion, through these, the intention of Samantabhadra is fulfilled. Thus, the appearance of the purity of dharmata is the accumulation path, the increase of experience is the joining path, the attainment of the limit of awareness is the seeing path and the meditation path, and at the end of the exhaustion of dharmata, the path of learning is completed. The stages of the ground are also explained by the omniscient Longchenpa: Thus, from the eight collections of consciousness, the seeing and meditation paths become the attainment of the limit of awareness, the afflicted mind turns, transcending the suffering of samsara, the eighth consciousness, the mind consciousness, turns, attaining non-conceptuality, the five sense consciousnesses turn, purifying the Buddha-fields, the tenth, the alaya consciousness, turns, possessing the supreme wisdom paramita, the cloud of dharanis. At the moment of the end of the continuous stream at the place of exhaustion, the path of learning turns, the ground of the alaya consciousness, is also the supreme samadhi like a vajra, attaining the supreme, free from all stains. Therefore, the path possessing the four appearances is the supreme path, completely perfected, and liberated into the heart of enlightenment. As it is said, the eighth ground attains non-conceptuality, the speech repeats accordingly, etc., the Great Perfection tantras, transmissions, instructions, and intentions are established by scripture, reason, and valid cognition. The ultimate result is the non-learning ground, body and wisdom manifest, and the activity of the emanated body for the benefit of beings is continuous. Moreover, when only the size of a fingernail is visible, by focusing on the fingernail and meditating, like Vimalamitra and Padmasambhava, the activity for the benefit of beings is performed by that very body.

O! Thus, the appearance of the pure nature of reality is the actual recognition, so it should be detailed; the increase of experiential perception is the sign of the path and its qualities, so it should be explained somewhat extensively; the attainment of the measure of awareness is just one aspect, and the others are only briefly mentioned, which is a concise summary. During the appearance of the pure nature of reality and the increase of experiential perception, signs of obstacles and demons may appear, showing various psychic powers and illusions. If one's own mind becomes increasingly contradictory to the Dharma, it is an obstacle of demons, so one should practice the meditation and recitation of the wrathful deity. The signs of increase and decrease in experience are: through the way of the union of wind and mind, even if one does not meditate for a long time, many deity forms will appear; if sudden samadhi and wisdom arise, one should adjust it according to the instructions of the pith instructions. The sign of unchanging secrecy: the body is as light as cotton, one does not feel the movement of breath, and the mind abides in great bliss, which is a sign that one can see but others cannot see. The body becomes younger, the muscles become firmer, the voice becomes pleasant, and the body appears in various transformations and emanations. The sign that one cannot see but others can see: the interdependent connections of whatever one thinks in the mind can benefit others. Even if signs of psychic powers, etc., that both oneself and others can see appear, one should not be happy or sad. Furthermore, when the appearance of the pure nature of reality is complete, wisdom will naturally arise without learning, so one will understand the various ways of gradual appearance. In particular, when the experiential perception increases, due to the arising of clairvoyance and psychic powers, one will gradually understand the various signs of the path. As wisdom increases, one can enter the tantras and pith instructions of Dzogchen without hindrance, so I will only say this much here. In other places, even if the degree of realization of awareness is shown, it will change quickly, so it cannot be permanent. The clear light of appearance arises gradually, so it can be permanent. When the increase of experiential perception reaches its peak, day and night merge, and clear light appears, thereby cutting off illusion, and samsara is liberated into nirvana, cutting off the city of the womb, so one will not be involuntarily reborn in samsara. One can see one-third of the qualities of the Tathagatagarbha. Gradually, as awareness reaches its measure, one can see hundreds and thousands of Buddha lands, and then all the qualities of trillions and billions will appear in this life, so do not abandon this profound method, but practice it with one-pointedness. This is for the sake of practice by one's own lineage disciples, and may it be auspicious.
