Regarding the practice of the preliminary practices for the three doors of guidance, there are three parts. The first part is distinguishing between samsara and nirvana in terms of external physical conduct: As it is said in the Vajra Destruction, "If samsara and nirvana are not distinguished, the three realms of body, speech, and mind, the connection will not be severed, therefore it is said to distinguish between samsara and nirvana." Therefore, distinguishing the part of samsara: Distinguishing samsara for the benefit of sentient beings. From now on, with the determination that this body will no longer wander in samsara, go out naked, practice the respective behaviors of the six realms; recite the various sounds of each from the mouth; in the mind, visualize all the sufferings of those beings as being borne by oneself; think of all the wholesome roots of conditioned phenomena that can be remembered; rest from time to time, and practice diligently. The sign of warmth is: feeling that one has no attachment to one's body, and no hunger or thirst. The reason for doing so is: As it is said in "After Death," "In order to perform the preliminary practices of the body, practice the various behaviors of the six realms." Therefore, please practice until the sun rises tomorrow. Then, distinguishing the part of nirvana: As it is said in the Vajra Destruction, "Well arrange the vajra posture, disciplining the body is beneficial to the mind." Therefore, straighten the body, bring the soles of the feet together, join the thumbs of the hands at the crown of the head, focus the mind on any one of the three-pointed vajras, white, red, or blue, which corresponds to the elements, and meditate for three days. The phenomena that arise from this are: the flesh and bones of the body change, and pain, etc., arise. The sign of warmth is: the body trembles as if a house is decaying, and it is impossible for a soft and comfortable feeling to arise. There are two purposes: the common purpose is: not to be attached to the ordinary body, and there are no obstacles. Through these two, in common, all the sins and obscurations of the body are purified. The supreme purpose is: from now on, the body will no longer enter the city of the womb, the body will be liberated as a manifestation body, and it is necessary to be inseparable from the body of the Buddha, therefore, please practice in this way. Then, distinguishing speech, divided into two parts, samsara and nirvana. First is the part of samsara: As it is said in "After Death," "Learn the sounds of peace and wrath, and the sounds of the elements, various forms." Therefore, the mind is not mature.
