Ga, Dngos! Like gold suddenly obscured by rust-like stains, the excellent path that separates this is the tradition of the holy. Here, I will explain the essence of all the instructions of all vehicles. This Dharma is the supreme essence of all the Great Perfection teachings, the supreme essence of the Ati, the unsurpassed, profound, secret, luminous Vajra Essence. It is the transcendence of mind, uncorrupted by contrived Dharma, the realm of wisdom, the key point of self-arising, self-existing, vast, and naturally abiding. It is the essence of the intention of the Buddhas of the three times, the heart-drop of the Vidyadharas who have gone to the rainbow body, the heart-blood of the wisdom Dakinis, the life-force of the glorious and holy protectors accomplished through wisdom and action, the crucial point of effortless, vast space, the unerring path of cause and effect, the method of leading all types of beings upwards, the entrance to the path that does not depend on others. By merely hearing, the darkness of ignorance is dispelled. By contemplating, the intention of the natural state of reality is realized. By meditating, one is liberated into the expanse of the great Dharmadhatu as primordially complete. By explaining, the wisdom of oneself and others is increased. By listening, the lotus garden of profound intelligence blossoms. By seeing, the obscurations of afflictions are exhausted. By practicing, the precious Bodhi of the path of liberation is attained. It is the great ocean of qualities, perfectly adorned by vast assemblies of immeasurable virtues. Now, I will explain this profound instruction of the Luminous Vajra Essence. Secondly, practicing through the door of instructions: What kind of person practices the instructions, and the actual text of the instructions to be practiced. First, one must abandon the nine activities and practice relying on leisure. As it is said in the Secret Tantra: "Abandon the nine activities of body, speech, and mind; rely on leisure and practice in solitude." Therefore, first are the three activities of the body: First, abandon all external activities of the body, such as farming, fighting, and all worldly activities; abandon all internal activities of the body, such as prostrations, circumambulations, and all Dharma practices; abandon all secret activities of the body, such as singing and dancing. In short, one should live alone without companions. Next are the three activities of speech: Abandon all external activities of speech, such as idle chatter and all meaningless talk; abandon all internal activities of speech, such as music and offer

Abandon all praises and the like; abandon the practice of secret speech, the stages of approaching, practicing, reciting, and reading; abide as if you were a mute. Then, the three activities of the mind are: abandon the external activities of the mind, all ordinary deluded thoughts; abandon the internal activities of the mind, all the stages of deity meditation in the generation stage; abandon the secret activities of the mind, all the meditation of mind-holding in the completion stage. Thus, there are two purposes, temporary and ultimate: temporarily, there is the need to let go of the activities of body, speech, and mind, and to turn away from attachment to samsara. Ultimately, there is the need to see the lama as the actual Buddha, and for uncontaminated wisdom to arise in the mindstream. Second, there are two aspects to the instructions for practice: first, receive well the empowerment that ripens the unripe; then, the instructions for liberating the ripened are: the foundation trekchö and the path tögal. Trekchö is: on whatever arises, on the basis of no expectation, without separating from the antidote mind, abiding without alteration, that is trekchö. Tögal is opening the secret door from the realm of the spontaneously accomplished body, so that the outer realm of empty space, the inner realm of awareness, the vajra chain, are manifestly apparent. Here, by one person practicing, Buddhahood is achieved. Unifying these two, practicing with one-pointedness, for those of the highest faculties, there is the instruction to depart into the rainbow body of the dharmadhatu without the appearance of the contaminated aggregates; for those of middling faculties, there is the instruction to transform dharmata into strength in the bardo of dharmata, and to awaken into the sambhogakaya; for those of the lowest faculties, there is the instruction to exhale in the pure land of the nirmanakaya, and not to enter the city of the womb. First, for someone who desires to awaken in this very life, there are three ways to impart instructions: imparting in the manner of guidance, imparting in the manner of complete transmission, and imparting in the manner of introduction. Here, we will impart in the manner of guidance, which is to first proceed with the preliminaries, then the actual introduction, then to make it rely on the yogi's mindstream. Then, in the preliminaries, there is also guiding the three kayas, training in the yoga of the four elements; guiding awareness, dividing samsara and nirvana into outer, inner, and secret; and the guidance of mind.
