Having gathered ransom substances from the area and blessed Yama and his retinue as actually present, in this way, for thirteen years, lives of sentient beings of the three realms were ransomed. Considering future followers with compassion, this extraordinary and wonderful ritual for averting death, based on the words of the Lord of Death himself as an explanation, is presented. However, in practicing it, even though the text itself is clear, those who are self-made cause confusion in the practice with various ways of interpreting the meaning. Therefore, in order to write according to the unerring practice, there are three points here: how to prepare the offerings and preliminary arrangements, actually practicing the ritual, and concluding the subsequent activities. In general, one needs to have received empowerment, not violated vows, and be capable of recitation and practice. Most importantly, one must well understand and comprehend the view of original purity, free from elaborations. Based on that, one should have unwavering deity, mantra, and samadhi of spontaneously accomplished illusory wisdom, and possess a compassionate mind. For a practitioner who has no doubts or attachments to the unsurpassed oral instructions, when the time comes to perform activities for the benefit of oneself and others, how does one first prepare the offerings and preliminary arrangements? Like the entrance hall of a monastery or palace, or on a major road where people travel, in a place without cover is also acceptable. It must be done only on ground without floors or the like, which is very important and profound, so that area should be swept and cleaned. As the text says, "Face towards the auspicious direction yourself, draw the mandala in the inauspicious direction." Therefore, the Vajra Master faces east, and on his right side, which is the south of the cardinal direction, draw a triangular black mandala of Yama, each side being one cubit. Finally, the top of the burning mountain of fire faces north, and in the center, write the black Tibetan letter དུ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning) with its head facing south, and place the image of Yama on top of it. The root text says, "In a fierce place, mix blood stains, iron, black mustard, and safflower substances, mix with water to make mud. On it, create the form of me, the Lord of Death, making it fierce, large, and coarse, and draw the wheel of existence on its belly. On a black corpse cushion, with a mixture of knife blood and corpse ashes, write ཀྲཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning), ཛ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning), དུ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning), མ(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning), and ཏི་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Chinese literal meaning)."

The method of placement is as follows: The explanation of "Placing at the gates of the limbs and senses" clearly states how to do it, but for the sake of easy understanding, I will explain it in a little more detail. The soil from cemeteries, ashes from cremations, battlefields, collapsed castles, houses of the childless, and crossroads are mixed with black liquid. Mix water from wells, reed water, stagnant water, and the urine of horses, donkeys, and mules. Mix various types of blood, and powders of various metals such as knives and iron. Black mustard, beans, and other violent grains. Lepers, the disabled, Monpas (some versions say the deaf, which needs to be verified), childless black people, and male mice (i.e., young mice). Mix whatever can be found of the flesh, bones, hair, nails, clothes, and dirt of inauspicious people such as widows. As it is said, the image of the Lord of Death should be one fathom if large, or about one cubit if small. That is, on the back of a black buffalo with curved horns, draw a black Yama with an angry frown, clenched teeth, three wide eyes, hair tied on the crown of the head, rough limbs, nails curved like iron hooks, and adorned with eight terrifying ornaments such as skull crowns. The right hand holds a nine-eyed abacus and a black lasso, and the left hand holds a one-toothed black sword. The lower body is wrapped in a tiger skin, possessing a majestic appearance, drawn according to the pattern. On its abdomen, draw the wheel of samsara in forward and reverse order, and on its heart, draw mantra garlands, etc., also according to the wheel diagram, text, and pattern of the treasure text, fold and bind them, and place them inside. Or, using a black shroud, or a shroud mixed with knife blood and corpse ashes, write three krams (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,kram, step), facing outwards, and place them inside. (In some places, it is written as tram). Similarly, write two dzahs (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,dzaḥ,release) on the two cheeks, write solama on the lips, and write four tis (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,ti,truth) on the four limbs. Around it are the four maras of sentient beings' karma: In front is a black Yama, with an angry appearance, unadorned, naked, with a lingam erected. Opening his mouth, clenching his teeth, with four limbs outstretched. On the right is black sin, with horns, opening its mouth, with eyes and limbs outstretched. The tail is curved like an iron hook. Behind is an iron powder butterfly, spreading its wings. On the left is a reddish-black bear with a terrifying appearance. Draw these four on paper and place them in the respective directions.
