I, Padmasambhava, for the sake of the ripening of the fruits of samsara in the last five hundred years of the future, will proclaim the hail protection instructions. After the signs of the mind practice retreat are complete, practice this activity. Preliminary monk, purify with a clean bath. Remove the gods, nagas, and earth lords from the shadows. Seal it with clean white silk. Bury it at the foot of a mountain where nagas reside. Consecrate it with the Essence of Interdependence. After the hail protection is over, take it out and offer a naga torma for atonement. Key to Suppressing the Wind: Make a ten-horned deer shape out of tsampa dough and write on paper: Gather the clouds, suppress all winds! Put it inside and bury it in the northeast direction you desire. Dig a hole and bury it. On the slate, write 'Yam' (Tibetan: ཡཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: यं, Sanskrit Romanization: yaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: wind seed syllable) below and draw a crossed vajra on top to seal it. Recite: Gather all the clouds, suppress all the winds! Take it out when the task is accomplished. Also, do many wind suppressions. The yogi who has attained signs of practice says: This very profound and essential key instruction should be applied to various activities. The substances, mantra, and samadhi are: Inside a four-finger-long bamboo tube, put antelope blood, musk, saffron, and arsenic, the menstrual blood of a widow violated by three widowers, the blood of a leper, the blood of a black bull, the semen of a black horse, and the blood of a black dog, yellow and black cowrie shells, and deer testicles. Seal it with beeswax. Wrap the bamboo tube with eagle and yak heart hair thread until it is invisible. Inside one bamboo tube, put various naga medicines and wrap it with white cotton thread. Water should not enter either of the two tubes. Tightly wrap and compress it. When hail comes, go to a powerful spring and offer tormas to nagas, local deities, gods, and demons, and speak the truth. Build a black stone pile in the spring. Press the above substances underneath. Visualize that stone as a black naga demon with nine heads, snake hair, black, with two hands in prayer, and the lower body coiled as a snake tail. Visualize putting the substances into its heart.
