Now, five kinds of trees have arisen, and the five wisdoms are naturally accomplished. So, where did this incense come from? It is the progenitor of the world, Brahma, who, through the harmonious combination of all things in the world and the five elements, contemplated the desired merits and manifested them. So, where did this incense come from? When King Trisong Detsen (742-797) intended to build Samye Monastery, he was obstructed by gods and demons. At that time, the king and his ministers consulted and invited the wise man of Oddiyana, and Guru Padmasambhava subdued the land of Samye Monastery with great power, offering incense and golden drinks as offerings. For those who did not listen to the teachings, they were punished with fierce means, and all the gods and demons were subdued. All the king's wishes were fulfilled, and the king and his subjects were all auspicious, and diseases, famines, wars, and disputes were pacified, and the Buddha's teachings were promoted in Tibet. Similarly, now we, for the sake of the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings and the happiness of sentient beings, build temples as supports for body, speech, and mind, perform consecration and blessings, establish large practice places, build castles and reclaim new lands, welcome brides and hold archery and horse racing, decorate hunting and go to war, travel far and do business, cross great rivers, name, enthrone, and crown, perform fierce activities such as exorcism and offering tormas. For all these important things to be accomplished without obstacles, we perform incense burning, offering sacrifices, and offering golden drinks, praying for the fulfillment of my wishes. First, the offering of incense: Hūṃ Hrīḥ! The primordial Buddha, Dharmakaya Samantabhadra and Samantabhadri, the great Vajradhara and the secret wisdom consort, the teacher Vajrasattva and the Dharmadhatu Ishvari, Vairochana and Lochana, Ratnasambhava and Mamaki, Amitabha and White Tara, Amoghasiddhi and Tara, who are one in the great wisdom Dharmadhatu, all the lineage gurus are offered incense! Shakyamuni Buddha who tames the six realms, the thousand Buddhas of the fortunate aeon of the ten directions and three times, the bodhisattvas of the three families, the assembly of bodhisattvas such as the eight great mothers, the teachers of the three kayas, outer, inner, and secret, the three pitakas of sutras and the six tantras of mantras, who taught the sacred Dharma as it was heard according to the symbols, all the vidyadhara lineage gurus are offered incense!
