For individuals, there are also differences between high and low. If the ritual is applied to Anuttarayoga Tantra, many differences in the activities of the Tsog will arise, which should be understood. In short, the actual practice is divided into two types: rituals performed for ordinary people and rituals performed for extraordinary people. First, regarding how to handle the body of the deceased, it is necessary to refer to texts such as the 'Final Ritual' written by Jetsun Karma. Here, the main focus is on explaining the method of purifying sins by relying on the corpse, which is divided into two aspects: recitation and the activities of the Karma. The first is recitation. The 'Purification Tantra' states: 'After consecrating the corpse with mantras, bathe it with supreme water, then anoint it with fragrant water. Cover it with clothes and ornaments, and fumigate it with incense consecrated with mantras. Offer flower garlands and so on.' The 'Jewel Torch Tantra' states: 'Reciting the nectar-swirling mantra, first bathe it with fragrant water, then by one's own yogi, contemplate it as Vairochana Buddha.' And so on. Therefore, one should possess the virtue of yoga, fill a vase with fragrant water and twenty-five substances, and bathe the corpse with water consecrated by reciting the nectar-swirling mantra hundreds of thousands of times. Anoint and pour camphor, saffron, and other fragrant waters on it. Contemplate the three doors of body, speech, and mind as the three vajras, and the five aggregates and twelve sources as being primordially pure as Dharmakaya and wisdom. If one has received initiation and has firm faith in the deity, then place the heart mantra of one's own deity in the heart. If one has not received initiation or does not have a clear deity, then recite the heart mantra of Amitabha, Avalokiteśvara, Padmasambhava, etc. If the blessing and liberation have already been performed before death, then that is sufficient. Alternatively, according to the tantras, use the mantras for blessing the three doors of body, speech, and mind and the five aggregates and twelve sources, or the blessing text from the 'Purification Tantra,' or the dharani of Akshobhya, etc., write any of the respective teachings with fragrant ink and place it. If one is a monastic, then wrap the body in monastic robes; if one is a layperson, then wrap it in white cloth, place it on a bed or cushion, and arrange offerings in front. Straighten the amulet tied to the heart. Visualize and recite the self-generation deity of whichever deity it is, and then expel the obstructing forces. Then, according to the view of the Han Chinese scriptures, the corpse should be purified into emptiness, so it is necessary to visualize the deity corresponding to peaceful activities. If it is a male, then visualize Vairochana Buddha; if it is a female, then visualize Arya Tara, arising through the three rituals on the forehead or in front of...

In any case, all the mandala deities are visualized as peaceful deities. In one's own heart, also visualize the deity of peaceful activity. Although it is said that one should recite and add connecting words with the samadhi that pacifies the sins and obscurations of the deceased, since this comes from the oral instructions of the early translation and is clearer, do it that way. Expel obstacles. Incense purification. From emptiness, from the (Tibetan: ནྲྀ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: nṛ, Chinese literal meaning: 舍) syllable, the deceased abides as if alive, and on their head, visualize Vajrasattva or Avalokiteshvara, or any deity that is praised for purifying obscurations. For common practice, visualize the eye-mother. From the body of the generated deity, nectar descends, purifying the odor of the corpse and flowing downwards. Visualize the body as being like crystal, and then recite as much as possible the dharani mantra of that and that. Again, generate as the mandala deity. After offering a little, rely on the root mantra and the mantra dharani for purifying obscurations, and recite hundreds or thousands of times. On the root mantra, add the name of the deceased and connecting words, and also perform sesame seed fire offerings. Finally, the deity is placed as being unfindable, and this is the method of practicing on the corpse as taught in the Kagye Deshek (bka' brgyad bde 'dus) and others. Secondly, the activities of karma. From the tantras and so on, the main thing mentioned is empowerment, as well as collecting the ashes after cremation with mantras and casting them into water, making images and stupas from bones, reversing, placing in a clean room, building stupas, reciting, and purifying sins through fire offerings. In the Indian treatises and the practices of scholars, the mandala ritual, in detail, involves first performing the ground ritual and preparing the corpse, and then actually performing the empowerment for seven days, that is, one day of preparation and six days of empowerment, for a total of seven days. The intermediate way is to abandon the recitation and complete the number of empowerments, and the concise way is to abandon even the preparation and perform whatever number of actual practices is appropriate. Since the detailed and intermediate ways are not practiced nowadays, they are not elaborated here, and the meaning of the concise way has already been explained above. There are seven ways to summarize those meanings and put them into practice. Reversing. Empowerment. Placing in a stupa. Placing in a home or temple. Performing fire offerings. Discarding in a mountain or water. Purifying sins by making tsatsas. Among these, reversing and empowerment
