Having invited the Samaya substances to reside in the mandala as an object of offering, offer the burnt offerings in the manner of making offerings. For all the obstacles to the body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of the glorious and venerable Lama, Śānti Kuru Svāhā! Add the appropriate supplementary words as needed, and perform the cremation rites of the deceased. Finally, offer to the worldly fire deity and perform the funeral rites as usual. If it is necessary to collect the ashes immediately after the cremation is completed, extinguish the fire with fragrant water and milk, and then collect them with the extensive mantra of Vajra collection. If it is not necessary to collect them, seal the holes of the reliquary with clay. It is also common to place blessed statues and scriptures on top. For the Lama's relics, perform prostrations, confessions, mandala offerings, praises, supplications, and empowerments every day through the elaborate or concise Guru Yoga. Avoid impurity and defilement. When opening the reliquary after three days or so, also arrange new offerings. Perform prostrations and offerings as before. Engage in meditation and recitation of any deity yoga, and then collect the relics in a clean vessel with an eight-petaled lotus drawn on it. If one cremates the body of one's own Lama before the wisdom being has departed, it will become a near matricide. Even for other virtuous individuals who have practiced deity yoga before, even if they are not Lamas, it is said to be the same. Regarding the practice of transference and absorption, there are various traditions in Tibet and China, but in general, what is written here is convenient and meaningful for all, high and low. When adding supplementary words, for those who are not related to the Dharma and for ordinary Lamas, add "of that holy person" or "of that virtuous friend" or "of that guide." For all the obstacles to the completion of their intention, Śānti Kuru Svāhā! Fourth, building a stupa: As the Tathagata said, "Then collect the bones, the wise should wash them with cow's milk, mix them with clay and make tsa-tsas, and build the stupa as the heart." Thus, after washing the relics with milk and perfume, grind them into fine powder, mix them with clay, and make tsa-tsas according to the ritual, and place them in the heart of the stupa. Or, visualize the relics as a deity, make offerings and praises, and dissolve them into light, becoming the essence of jewels.

It is also good to invite the relics with special qualities, good fragrance, clothes, and respect to reside in the heart of the support. According to Chinese texts, if there are relics of the Buddha's body, they should be bathed, wrapped with dharani, and then placed in the support. It is said that even the bones of ordinary people should be treated in this way. Dharani are deities and the heart of the support, etc. In general, when building a support for someone who has passed away, the support for the Dharmakaya is a stupa and tsa-tsa, the support for the Sambhogakaya is peaceful and wrathful deities, the body of perfect enjoyment, and texts of mantras. The support for the Nirmanakaya is Buddhas and other forms with the appearance of renunciation and ordination. Whether large or small, if it is accomplished with the blessing of completeness and consecration, it is very beneficial. Whether it is appropriate or not to place bones and ashes with special qualities in stupas, etc., generally depends on the level of the individual's mind stream. If it is purified properly through rituals, there will be no fault even for those of lower capacity. It is better to make tsa-tsas and place them, as there is less to be criticized. Even if bones, ashes, and corpses are disposed of in water, they should be discarded while reciting mantras for purifying the lower realms. If one makes the aspiration that all sentient beings within the reach of the water flow may be liberated from the lower realms, then it has the necessity of becoming so. These final rituals appear in various forms in the tantras of both new and old mantras. The main basis is the purification tantra, and the main focus is on the teachings of the Kadampa school. In the terma tradition, there are endless varieties of elaboration and abbreviation. Although there are many different practices based on the views of the tantras and Chinese texts, and on Buton Rinchen Drub's concise and eloquent explanations, the "Following the Deceased of Great Power Lord of the World" by the 7th Chögyal Terdak Lingpa is easy to carry, the meaning is concentrated, and the form is clear, so it is recorded here in a general way. May the supreme gurus of the past attain complete realization! May the inferior beings be established in the peaceful state of liberation! May all beings, without abiding in samsara or nirvana, become the glorious guides and protectors who lead infinite beings! Although there is a strong desire to benefit others, with a strong intention to benefit those who are ignorant of the essential points of necessary practice, as a person of limited intelligence, at the practice place of Dzongshö Deshek Dupa, I have recorded the ...
