It should be known that in such places, auspiciousness arises and all desires are fulfilled. Inauspicious places that are contrary to these should be abandoned. Repaying debts and bestowing favors, and averting enemies of the land, should be done as described below. Third, explaining the characteristics of the abodes of individual beings: In general, this Jambudvipa, created from the five elements, has the shape of a yoke. Furthermore, the four sides of Mount Sumeru are: the east is white crystal, the south is blue beryl (Tibetan: བཻ་ཌཱུརྻ,Sanskrit Devanagari: वैडूर्य,Sanskrit Romanization: vaiḍūrya, literal meaning: beryl), the west is red ruby (Tibetan: པདྨ་རཱ་ག,Sanskrit Devanagari: पद्मराग,Sanskrit Romanization: padmarāga, literal meaning: lotus-colored gem), and the north is green sapphire (Tibetan: ཨིནྡྲ་ནཱི་ལ,Sanskrit Devanagari: इन्द्रनील,Sanskrit Romanization: indranīla, literal meaning: Indra's blue). The colors of the clear skies of the four continents also correspond to these. The people of the southern Jambudvipa also have human faces, heads, bodies, limbs, and joints, and their bodies are also yoke-shaped. The Tibetans are located on the neck of the yoke, so they are cold, poor, and destitute, but their memory is clear. India, Kashmir, and Tajikistan are located on the yoke of the yoke, so they are timid, shallow-minded, and wealthy. China, Mongolia, and Tangut are located at the opening of the yoke, so they are vast, broad-minded, sharp-witted, intelligent, and have abundant resources. Furthermore, around the edge of the yoke, there are thirty-six border regions, namely: Klo, Do, Kakra, Kaso, Gya, Kasu, Ma, Tsapung, Doro, Zatsa, Huta, Kaling, Monkey-Eagle, Dog-Husband, Galo, and Zhangtsa. These places are dark lands, without the name of the Buddha's teachings, without knowing the qualities of the Three Jewels, without knowing good and evil, without understanding cause and effect, delighting in flesh and blood, cruel and murderous, neither human nor ghost, mostly in the form of animals. This is called the abode of beings, and these places are also gathered into three types: male land, female land, and neuter land. Among them, all sunny mountains are male lands, and all shady mountains are female lands. Ridges and protrusions are male lands, and depressions and hollows are female lands. Heavy and rough are male lands, and light and soft are female lands. All dry mountains are male lands, and all wet mountains are female lands. Ponds, saline lands, muddy lands, and sticky lands are neuter lands. Furthermore, in worldly lands, if built on a male mountain, people will not prosper, but they will have good eloquence, great authority, be able to occupy their own land, and the borders will be stable. If built on a female land, people will not prosper, but they will have abundant resources, gentle character, auspiciousness, and the borders will not change. Neuter lands should be abandoned.

Here is a brief explanation of the places to be avoided: like the remains of a trampled battlefield, like the tear marks left by crying on a mountainside, like the disheveled hair of a demoness, like a gray mountain shadow entering inside, like a squeezed wet saddle, and places where the hillside has collapsed, arrow shafts are broken, the middle is crossed, the east is high, the south is sloping, the west is collapsing, the north is broken, the back mountain is split, the land color is gray, the wandering traces of fierce gods and demons, places where no grass grows and the land color is like it has been burned by fire, and places where the water flow is turbulent and accompanied by loud noises, are the abodes of Yama. These unsuitable places should all be avoided, and suitable places should be identified and chosen. In particular, if a yogi wants to build a practice room or palace that possesses all the characteristics, then a place that is auspicious and abundant should be chosen for land surveying. The conditions of the earth deity, the dwelling guardian, and the terrain should be examined as described in the practice manual. Build a dwelling of appropriate size according to the circumstances, and arrange it according to the layout of a palace. The number of pillars in the central area can be eight, six, four, or two, depending on the actual situation. The door of the house should face east. The length of the fence can be two pillars, or three partitions, or four beams, or two, depending on the size. On top of these, wisdom should be used to plan the granary, grass store, and warehouse, etc. On top of these, the layout of the dwelling should be carefully arranged: the southeast is the location of the fire god, and a stove should be set up; the northeast is the direction of Ishvara, and a bed and bedroom should be set up; the southwest is the direction of the Rakshasa, and a meditation room and protector's hall should be set up; the northwest is the direction of the wind god, and a windmill, hail protection device, and storage room for clothing, cushions, and mats should be set up; the north should be divided into continents, and a shrine should be set up; in the two doors of the northeast and northwest, two doors should be opened, and the wealth deity should be enshrined below the shrine, as a huge treasure house; on the west side of the main meditation room, set up a granary; below it, designate a Naga palace, and auspiciously set up a livestock pen; the east corridor can be used for empowerment, teaching the Dharma, and other virtuous deeds; the south side can be used to set up a kitchen and tool storage room as needed. The upper and lower floors of the central area can be set up with skylights as needed. Special attention should be paid to the walls, pillar bases, pillar heads, wooden structures, and roof decorations, making it like a divine palace. Its advantages are: it is temporarily pleasing, virtuous deeds naturally increase, like living in the palace of the gods.
