In front of her, visualize the Kagyu lineage lamas, as well as the Three Jewels and all objects of refuge, gathered like dense clouds. Clearly visualize this, and entrust all the joys and sorrows, good and bad, of yourself and all beings as vast as space to them, opening your heart, liver, and chest completely, with unwavering faith: Ma Mi Min, Wisdom Dakini! I take refuge in Lapyi Dronma! Those who reveal the wisdom of self-awareness! I take refuge in the lamas! Those who surely grant accomplishments! I take refuge in the Yidam deities! Those who possess the qualities of abandonment and realization! I take refuge in the Buddhas! Those who are peaceful and free from attachment! I take refuge in the sacred Dharma! Those to whom offerings bring great benefit! I take refuge in the Sangha! Holding the form of a youth, possessing qualities! I take refuge in Jampal Yang (Manjushri)! Whose being is filled with compassion! I take refuge in Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara)! Subduing the wicked with great power! I take refuge in Vajradhara! Until the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in you all! I pray to you all! I rely on you all! I offer the offerings of the five desires! Please accept the offering of the five aggregates! These thoughts are truly pitiful. However, do not remain in pity, but place them in liberation, in eternal bliss. For this purpose, practice the profound Chöd guidance, thinking in this way. In the supreme Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, until enlightenment, I take refuge. By the merit of my giving, etc., may I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings. Recite this many times and blend it with your mind. Second, the accumulation of merit is also twofold: common and uncommon. First, the common accumulation of merit is: clearly visualize the object of accumulation as before, and then visualize yourself and all other sentient beings multiplying into as many as atoms, prostrating; actually arrange as many offerings as possible, and offer immeasurable offerings transformed by the mind; confess all sins, obscurations, faults, and downfalls with strong remorse; rejoice in all the virtues of yourself and others; urge the Dharma wheel to turn continuously; Pray that you will not pass into nirvana until samsara is empty; contemplate dedicating all virtues to unsurpassed enlightenment. Thinking in this way, recite the seven branches from the "King of Prayers" as much as possible. Second, the uncommon accumulation of merit is: regard your body as a wish-fulfilling jewel that produces all desires, cherish it and be reluctant to part with it, then think of offering it to the Lama and the Three Jewels.
