Da! Having turned away from the hustle and bustle, the place is auspicious and blessed, not occupied by local evil spirits, but a place blessed by the Buddhas of the past. Snow mountains, rocky mountains, cemeteries, islands, forests, etc., are naturally clear in mind and high in terrain, with low mountains in the east and west, overlapping mountains in front, high mountains in the back and excellent feng shui, calm water flow, all favorable conditions are complete and easy to gather, and one should practice here. Fourth, the necessary items: Items to maintain the illusory body, food and clothing; vows to be relied upon, such as the five meats and five ambrosias; necessary items, vajra bells and mudras; compatible items, medicines and types of auspicious items; special items, gathering offerings of tormas that please the dakinis, etc., gathering everything without any lack. Fifth, the Dharma for generating conviction in actual practice: the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, the reason for its destruction, the faults of samsara, and the acceptance and rejection of karmic results, etc. First of all, thinking about the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment: the so-called eight leisures and ten endowments, that is, the three evil destinies of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, the long-lived gods, although they have obtained human bodies, they are born in borderlands, barbarians, those who are incomplete in their roots, and those who have evil views, all have no leisure to practice the Dharma. Thus, oneself is complete with the ten kinds of wonderful Dharmas: being born in the central land where the holy Dharma is prosperous, the five senses are without defects, not following the upside-down views of heretics, etc., having faith in the Three Jewels, the Buddha appeared in the world, he preached the Dharma, the teachings remain in the world, having a virtuous teacher who teaches the Dharma, and others who have loving hearts towards me, obtaining such a precious human body with leisure and conditions for practicing the Dharma is even rarer than the stars in the daytime. Therefore, one should think and observe from the perspectives of cause, condition, nature, metaphor, and many kinds, so as to make this life meaningful. Second, the reason for its destruction: thinking about death and impermanence, first of all, the external vessel world, including mountains and land, is also first formed, resides in the middle, and is ultimately destroyed by the three elements of fire, water, and wind. The sentient beings of inner emotion are also first caused by the parents

arises from conditions; exists briefly in between, like a cloud obscuring the sun; and ultimately dies without any attachment, hence it is impermanent. Also, the changing of the four seasons, the appearance and disappearance of the sun and moon, the differences between moments before and after, and so on. Furthermore, those who have not died before are now gone, life is exhausted in an instant, the body is composite and will decay, and there is no certainty whatsoever as to when death will come. Therefore, when contemplating death, only the sacred Dharma can be of benefit, so in any case, I must practice a Dharma that will definitely be helpful at the time of death. If one always thinks of doing it tomorrow or the day after, there is no telling when death will come, so like putting out a fire on one's head or seeing a snake in one's lap, one should generate the strength of diligence and engage in practice. Third, contemplate the faults of samsara: In the past, I have taken countless births in this realm of the three realms of samsara and experienced unimaginable suffering. Even now, I have no certainty of turning away from samsara, and I will have to experience immeasurable unbearable suffering endlessly. Not only I alone, but all beings, including parents, are also indulging in the suffering of the six realms, such as the unbearable suffering of heat and cold in hell, the suffering of hunger and thirst in pretas, the suffering of being killed, eaten, exploited, and being ignorant in animals, and the unimaginable suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death in humans, the suffering of jealousy and hatred in asuras, and the suffering of attachment to sensual pleasures and the suffering of falling from the heavens in gods. In short, in samsara, there is not even a mustard seed of happiness, not even on the tip of a needle. Therefore, one should be disgusted with the nature of samsara, like a criminal escaping from a dark prison. Fourth, contemplate the nature of cause and effect: Thus, wandering in samsara and enduring unbearable suffering arises from doing unwholesome deeds, while the happiness of higher realms and liberation arises from doing wholesome deeds.
