The profound path to enlightenment in one lifetime, the common preliminary of all dharmas in the true great bliss heart essence. Dharma Lord Glingpa. The common preliminary of all dharmas in the profound path to enlightenment in one lifetime, the true great bliss heart essence, abides. Homage to glorious Heruka! Through the door of the profound path to enlightenment in one lifetime, the true great bliss heart essence, to accomplish the supreme accomplishment of Mahamudra, there are three: the common and uncommon preliminaries of dharma; the main practice of Mahamudra, the guiding sequence of introducing the true wisdom, stainless, self-illuminating, naked seeing; afterwards, the section on enhancing the path, taking advantage of the circumstances. First, in the common path that precedes all dharmas: the characteristics of the lama and the disciple; the basis of the place of practice; the necessary equipment; the dharma of engaging in actual practice. Among these, first, the characteristics of the lama: Types of those who should not be relied upon: those with great pride; those with dull minds; those who only follow words; those who do not understand the meaning of secret mantra; those who cut off the hopes of others; those who are by nature easily angered; those who have entered a wrong path; those who have not seen the signs of the deity; those who have broken their vows; those who cannot cut off doubts; those with little learning, such unexamined teachers should not be relied upon. Qualities of those who are worthy of reliance: those who are skilled in dharma and detached from worldly affairs; those who have seen the truth of emptiness and whose experience has reached perfection; those who are not confused about the desires of disciples, those who possess such characteristics should be relied upon. Second, examining the vessel of the disciple: Types of those who are not suitable vessels: those who do not possess the three types of service to the lama's body, speech, and mind; those who act contrary to secret mantra; those who do not possess the lineage of the supreme vehicle; those with little wisdom; those who despise kindness; those who become meaningless and scattered, and so on. Those who possess a vessel: those who possess great faith and wisdom; those whose minds are upright and without error; those whose faculties are clear; those who possess diligence; those who have little attachment and are generous; those who possess dignity; those who abide by their vows, and so on. Third, the basis of the place of practice: that which is in harmony with the mind and without harm.
