The Three Offerings. The middle one is drunk by oneself to eliminate diseases and evil spirits. The remainder is given to the pretas who drink pus and blood, and dedicated to them. The water offering of meaning is: the water of natural phenomena, unadulterated and naturally occurring, is purified with clear and pure awareness and then released. The water offering of symbols is: with the water of mind itself, self-arising and self-liberating, the five poisons and discursive thoughts are completely eliminated. The water offering of representation is: in all places where there is water, recite the six-syllable mantra, visualize it as nectar, and offer it upwards to the lama and the Three Jewels, dedicate it to the local deities in the middle, and give it downwards to the pretas. Secondly, the benefits are shown to be five: attainment through hearing, attainment through recitation, attainment through writing and seeing, attainment through wearing, and attainment through circumambulation. First, attainment through hearing the name of Great Compassion: In the Sutra of Fully Revealing the Lineage of Names, it is said: "Just by hearing the name of the noble Avalokiteśvara, one will be protected from the evils of this life. In the future, one will attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." Attainment through recitation: The emanation king said: "Whoever recites the six-syllable mantra ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan, Sanskrit देवनागरी, Romanized Sanskrit Om Mani Padme Hum, Literal Chinese meaning 嗡 嘛呢 呗美 吽), the billions of creatures living in the stomach of that person will be liberated from the lower realms. If the wind from the body of someone who recites the six-syllable mantra touches other sentient beings, their obscurations will be purified. What need is there to mention if one recites it regularly?" Attainment through writing and seeing: In the Sutra of the Basket, it is said: "If someone writes this six-syllable mantra on a rock or a wall, all the sentient beings who see it will become bodhisattvas, and will quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." Attainment through wearing: The emanation king said: "On a clean cloth, draw a complete and beautiful image of Great Compassion, and then on his forehead, throat, heart, and navel, draw six-spoked wheels. In the center of the forehead wheel, write ཨོཾ་(Tibetan, Sanskrit देवनागरी, Romanized Sanskrit Om, Literal Chinese meaning 嗡) in silver, and on the six spokes, write the six-syllable mantra. Similarly, on the throat, write ཨཱཿ(Tibetan, Sanskrit देवनागरी, Romanized Sanskrit Āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning 阿) with ruby, and on the six spokes, write the six-syllable mantra. On the heart, write ཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan, Sanskrit देवनागरी, Romanized Sanskrit Hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning 吽) with lapis lazuli, and write the six syllables.

In the center, write the six-syllable mantra and the seed syllable(藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:hrīḥ) with gold. Encircling the outer edge of the five circles of light, write the mantras of Avalokiteśvara with the five precious substances. Having recited the six-syllable mantra a hundred thousand times over it, it will be perfectly blessed. If it is wrapped in various silks and tied to the crown of the head or around the neck, pretas will not be able to harm you. Having passed away, you will be liberated from the states of suffering and will come to abide in the presence of the noble Avalokiteśvara. Do not doubt this! Thus it was said. As for the attainment of enlightenment through circumambulation, it is said in the Noble Tantra: "Whoever is endowed with intelligence, on groats, cloth, or tree bark, the six-syllable mantra, having written well with the essence of the six excellences, entrusts it to the elements, will obtain the fruit of happiness without being devoured by demons." Thus, the benefits of circumambulating the six-syllable mantra in fire, water, and wind are taught. Furthermore, merely hearing the name of the noble Great Compassionate One, or even just remembering it, one is liberated from the eight great fears and the sixteen fears, etc., as stated in twenty-one sutras and tantras... the *Treasure Chest Sutra*, the *White Lotus Sutra*, the *Wonderful Lotus Sutra*, the *Sutra of Various Rivers*, the *Sutra of Manifestation of Play*, the *Sutra of One Hundred and Eight Names*, the *Sutra Fully Revealing the Seven Names*, the *Eleven-Faced Sutra*, the *Supreme Lotus Sutra*, the *Sutra of the Play of Power*, the *Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Sutra*, the *Great Compassion Sutra*, the *Sutra of Arrayed Light Rays*, the *Six-Syllable Sutra*, the *Dharani of Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes*, the *Lotus Heart Dharani*, the *Eleven-Faced Dharani*, the *Amoghapāśa Dharani*, the *Short Amoghapāśa Dharani*, the *Lotus Crown Tantra*, and the *Ritual Mantra Tantra*. It is said that these sutras and tantras will surely be translated during the time of the emanation king, but some of them seem to have disappeared now. Therefore, if merely hearing, reciting, writing, wearing, and circumambulating can bring such benefits, then how much more so if one practices the complete and unerring stages of generation and completion as taught by the emanation king himself? The best will attain enlightenment in this life, the middling in the bardo, and even the lowest will undoubtedly and without confusion attain the two siddhis in the next life. Therefore, those who are endowed with karma and fortune and who desire to attain great temporary and ultimate happiness should practice this path.
