Marked by the syllable Na. The essence of the wind element is the space of the Samaya Tara. Above that, from the syllable Hūṃ, the reddish-yellow Raṃ (Tibetan: རཾ, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Raṃ) radiates, and through its complete transformation, a triangular fire mandala marked with a vajra arises. The essence of the fire element is the space of the White-Clad Mother. Above that, from the syllable Hūṃ, a white Khaṃ (Tibetan: ཁཾ, Devanagari: खं, Romanized Sanskrit: khaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Khaṃ) radiates, and thus a round water mandala marked with a vase arises. The essence of the water element is the space of Māmakī. Above that, the yellow Suṃ (Tibetan: སུཾ, Devanagari: सुं, Romanized Sanskrit: suṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Suṃ) radiates, and thus the golden four-sided earth base, yellow, each corner marked with a vajra. The essence of the earth element is the space of Buddha Locana. Thus, these five spaces are the essence of the palace. Above that is a palace made of four kinds of precious jewels, clear inside when viewed from the outside, and clear outside when viewed from the inside, which is called the wisdom of pure appearance. Through the power of that samādhi, the fourth ground is subdued. In the center of that four-sided palace, contemplate the deity's body, the support of the three vajra yogas. In the center of the palace, above the interlaced eight-petaled lotus, above the stacked sun, moon, and lotus, one's own alaya consciousness, the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ) descends like a drop from the sky, this is the first yoga. From the syllable Hūṃ, light radiates and then gathers back, the syllable Hūṃ gradually dissolves, the yogi's consciousness, that is called the mind that follows the wisdom of the dharmadhatu. Through the power of that samādhi, the fifth ground is subdued. Then, that Hūṃ dissolves into light and becomes a nine-pronged vajra. The yogi's consciousness, that is called the wisdom that appears like the reflection of the five wisdoms. Through the power of that samādhi, the sixth ground is subdued. Then, light radiates from the vajra and then gathers back, the vajra dissolves into light, the yogi's consciousness, that is called the wisdom that abides in the dharmakaya. Through the power of that samādhi, the seventh ground is subdued. Then, from that ball of light, it transforms into the body of the Great Glorious One, which is manifestly accomplished from individual wisdom, the yogi's consciousness, that is called the wisdom of the complete fruition, through the power of that samādhi, the eighth ground is subdued. That body is not a material body, but a body of mind.

appearing as a place of enjoyment, but it does not have its own nature. The wisdom of a yogi is called mirror-like wisdom, and by the power of that samadhi, one can conquer the ninth ground. Although the complete generation stage has been taught in this way, three faults will occur for beginner yogis: excitement, sinking, and distraction. Excitement is when, after first entering samadhi, one thinks that the generation stage is clear in one's mind, but one cannot remain there, and one's mind wanders to the objects of past and future actions. The way to eliminate this is to abandon the clear recollection of past memories and future occurrences, and to practice the higher samadhi. Just as it is clear in the mind, it should be made clear in the object of the support and the supported, and without moving from there, fix the mind firmly. This is the method of eliminating excitement. Sinking is like this: when samadhi is first slightly clear, one thinks it is clear, but after a while it gradually sinks. It is like searching for something in the dark without a clue. Even if one tries to make it clear, it does not become clear in the support and the supported, but becomes murky. This is called sinking. The way to eliminate this is to let go of samadhi. If one can actually see the body of the Sugata, that is best. If not, one should visualize it in front of one's mind, and offer it offerings with objects or in one's mind. Then circumambulate it three or seven times. After that, wash one's face with water, and let one's mind wander freely to past actions and future actions. Then, one should settle one's mind in samadhi. This is the method of eliminating sinking. Then, what is distraction? When one first begins samadhi, one thinks that the first and second stages are clear, but one does not remain there, but wanders to external objects like a dream. This is called distraction. The way to eliminate this is to put a little thought into that awareness, and then settle in samadhi. After that, remember the suffering of the three lower realms and the suffering of sentient beings in the three realms, and think that these beings are worthy of compassion, and generate love.
