Having meditated on the path like the ground, such excellent fruit is attained. All the compassionate deeds and other forms, diligently work for the benefit of beings. To the peaceful, it is peaceful; to the wrathful, a wrathful form; to the desirous, a form of desire; the hateful are subdued by it. In short, the key to transforming appearances into the path is this: all beings, the objects to be purified, are naturally pure and abide in the nature of deities. Therefore, transforming their appearances into the path means contemplating the appearances of the environment and its inhabitants as the form of a mandala with its supporting and supported aspects, and meditating on the samaya-being. The result of purification is the dharmakaya of all Buddhas. Therefore, transforming its appearances into the path means invoking the wisdom-being, the very dharmakaya, in the form of peaceful and wrathful manifestations that tame whatever is to be tamed. Since the ground and the result have been abiding in their nature, inseparable from the beginning, transforming their appearances into the path means dissolving the wisdom-being into the mandala of samaya, and understanding the key to practicing the path of inseparability between samaya and wisdom. Secondly, there are three aspects to the arrangement of the means of how to accomplish: the object of focus, the means of accomplishment, and the arrangement of the accomplished result. First, since the deity of accomplishment resides within oneself, it is certain that when encountering the conditions of the path, the qualities of the fruit can arise. Therefore, one must find certainty in the fruit to be attained, which is the supreme fruit that transcends the characteristics of the world, and the imputed fruit that is worldly and common. In order to generate joy in the qualities of the two types of accomplishment, one must train on the path. This is the accomplishment of the object of focus. As it says in the scripture "The Fulfillment of Activities": "The supreme accomplishment, whether transcending or not transcending the world, is the object of focus." Secondly, there are five means of accomplishment: the person who accomplishes, the place where one accomplishes, the time when one accomplishes, the materials upon which one relies to accomplish, and the manner in which one accomplishes. First, one must establish as a basis that one's being has been matured by empowerment and that one abides in samaya and vows. In order to attain accomplishment, one must have both complete causes and conditions on top of that. The cause is to have the intention to accomplish the two benefits with faith in the accomplishment to be achieved. The condition is to be motivated by the three kinds of faith: confidence, desire, and intense joy, and to engage in recitation and accomplishment without laziness.

Possessing steadfast diligence, wisdom that understands the key points of what is to be purified and what purifies, and complete with qualities such as not being distracted by busyness. As the Root Tantra says: 'The yogi who has abandoned busyness.' And the scripture of activity says: 'Those who by nature desire liberation in higher realms, the cause for swiftly accomplishing practice, those who possess faith, diligence, and wisdom, know that to be the condition for it.' Second is the place, which should possess auspicious qualities for practicing either peaceful or wrathful deities. As the Root Tantra says: 'An auspicious, pleasing, solitary place, with a low eastern mountain and a sloping southern mountain, a high western mountain and a sheltering northern mountain, in front there are flowers and felt cloths, the sound of the king of birds, the cuckoo, is heard, trees and flowers have branches growing, with the fragrance of incense rising, a place where desired enjoyments are accomplished, there practice peaceful practices.' And: 'Wherever one practices wrathful practices, a great charnel ground, extremely terrifying, a place where heaven and earth meet at a three-way intersection, a mountain resembling an angry Rakshasa, a place where trees and wild animals roam, in that extremely frightening place.' Thus, even if the place for daily practice and recitation does not have all these characteristics, it is acceptable. Any place where the mind is happy and there is no harm can be taken as a sacred place for practice. Third is the time, which is divided into two: the time to enter recitation and the time for how long to practice. The first is, as the Empowerment Scripture says: 'Time is the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the turning points are extremely auspicious, from the eighth to the fifteenth, take auspicious planets and stars.' Therefore, the turning points of the four seasons, and the waxing moon, from the eighth to the fifteenth, and the planets and stars, as the Manjushri Root Tantra says: 'Dates and planets are complete, Jupiter, Venus, and the Moon, Mars is most excellent in all activities.' And: 'The star Vishakha and the star itself, and the waxing and waning of King and Birth, the Boat and the Divine Boundary, are highly praised as times for recitation.' It is said that especially the eighth day of the waxing moon with the King star is most auspicious, and if Jupiter is also present, it is most excellent. As the Magical Display says: 'Dates begin from the eighth of the waxing moon, especially at the King star.' And in Destroying Obstacles it says: 'When the moon arises, Thursday, practice is most auspicious when it is waxing.' Others
