Think of offering with clouds of offerings, both actually arranged and mentally emanated, filling the expanse of the sky. Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽)! Please come, Padma Thötreng! etc. From the perspective of remembering the qualities and special features, offer praises such as birthless, cessationless, and immutable. Then, it is very important to strongly generate certainty that the lama residing on the crown of your head is the embodiment of all sources of refuge, because devotion itself is determined to be a special foundation for the path of Vajrayana. As it is said in the Vajra Secret Tantra: "With unwavering devotion for six months, one attains the state of Vajradhara." Therefore, the arising of experience and realization in the mindstream depends on the blessings of the lama, and whether blessings come or not depends on devout supplication. And devotion does not merely refer to saying the words "Lama, know me" from the mouth. Rather, one must generate the understanding that the lama is the essence of all Buddhas combined, and in our perception, their kindness is greater and more supreme than that of all Buddhas. If you regard the lama as an ordinary person, how can pure perception and devotion arise? Therefore, from the depths of your heart, generate certainty that the lama is the embodiment of all Buddhas, and pray with intense longing of faith and devotion, even to the point of shedding tears. That is, pray that I may obtain all the wisdom, compassion, and power of the noble root and lineage lamas, so that I may be able to liberate all beings as vast as space from the ocean of existence. Thus, gather your mind into one-pointedness. After the three syllables at the three places of the Guru, etc., recite in the manner of the Vajra Guru supplication. Then, from the crown of the lama on your crown, a white Oṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओं, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 嗡) syllable, from the throat a red Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Chinese literal meaning: 阿) syllable, and from the heart a blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) syllable, come like a rain, and dissolve into your own three places, purifying the sins and obscurations of body, speech, and mind, and obtaining all the accomplishments of body, speech, and mind. Think in this way, and recite without even a slight distraction of mind. By praying in this way, one obtains the supreme accomplishment, and if one obtains the supreme, the common accomplishments will naturally arise as a matter of course. In this way, for example, recite the Vajra Guru mantra about three thousand times per session, and the supplication to the Mother of the Buddhas of the Three Times about three hundred times. That is, either clear appearance or devotion.

One should focus one-pointedly on a single object, without letting the mind wander elsewhere. As the great scholar said, "If the mind wanders elsewhere, even if you recite for a hundred kalpas, it will not produce results." These are the instructions for the outer practice of approach and accomplishment, the stages of the profound path of Guru Yoga, the essence of the Vajrayana path, and the unparalleled path of the treatises of many accomplished masters of Tibet and China. At the end of the session, visualize the guru of the crown of the head entering from your own crown, coming to your heart. On the eight-petaled lotus of the heart, in the center of the sun and moon discs, is the root guru, Mahaguru Sangdü Dorje Sempa, with a dark blue-black body, one face and two arms, naked, adorned with five bone ornaments. The right hand holds a golden five-pronged vajra at the heart, and the left hand holds a bell embracing the consort. The legs are in the vajra posture. In his lap is the consort Yeshe Tsogyal, with a white and reddish complexion, naked, adorned with bone ornaments. The right hand embraces the father from behind his neck, and the left hand holds a skull cup filled with nectar. The two legs embrace the father's waist in an entwined manner, joining in union. Visualize the father and mother residing in the realm of the five wisdom lights, in the nature of indivisible bliss and emptiness. From his body, light radiates throughout the sky, and all the Buddhas of the ten directions, and all the qualities of the container and its contents, dissolve into oneself in the form of the body, speech, and mind of Mahaguru Dorje Tötreng Tsal, thereby attaining all supreme and common accomplishments. Recite about a hundred times the secret mantra of accomplishment, such as (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་བཛྲ་གུ་རུ་པདྨ་ཐོད་ཕྲེང་རྩལ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ āḥ hūṃ vajra guru padma thod phreng rtsal, Literal Chinese meaning: Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Tötreng Tsal), etc. This is the instruction for the inner practice of accomplishment. Then, the guru in the heart dissolves into light and dissolves into oneself, visualizing oneself transforming into the form of the guru Vajradhara and consort. The three vajras of the guru and one's own three doors of body, speech, and mind become inseparable, like water mixed with water. From his body, white light radiates, purifying the diseases, evil spirits, sins, and obscurations of all sentient beings, oneself and others. Yellow light radiates, increasing life and merit. Red light radiates, controlling gods, demons, and humans. Green-black light radiates, destroying all enemies and obstacles. All of samsara and nirvana,
