After the teachings and explanations, Jaton Pema Wangchuk himself appeared and fully bestowed the empowerments and instructions. Immediately, the oral transmission was recorded in writing. On the 25th of the first month of the Water Horse year, the transmission of the ripening and liberating instructions was bestowed, and this lineage is: Dharmakaya Kuntuzangpo Vajradhara, Sambhogakaya Palden Demchok, Nirmanakaya Lhankyé Naljorma, Immortal Pema Vajra father and mother, Khandro Yeshe Tsogyal, King Trisong father and son, Great Translator Vairotsana, Translator Gyalwa Choyang, etc., were given in extensive, intermediate, and concise forms. Then, the Terton Pema Wangchuk, the master of the seven transmissions, Pema Osel Do-ngak Lingpa. This was bestowed upon me by the incomparable and kind protector. Moreover, I also heard some of the long-lineage instructions of the five-stage bell method, which is widely known in the New Tradition. In the pure appearance of the near lineage, the great accomplished Vajra Bell Master and his consort bestowed the four symbolic empowerments. After explaining one verse of the root text of the five stages, finally, in an inconceivable state, the essence and wisdom were blessed as inseparable, so its rivers also merged into one. Secondly, the actual instructions that arise from that have three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and concluding practice. First, there are also three: establishing the foundation with the common preliminaries, settling the three doors with the special preliminaries, and training the mind-stream with the guiding preliminaries. The first is: As the root text states: In a secluded and blessed place, cut off outer and inner boundaries. This means that the place for practicing the two stages should be free from human traffic and non-human harm, secluded from noise and pleasant to practice. Find a place that has been blessed by accomplished masters and vidyadharas, and is not tainted by broken vows, etc., and settle there, abandoning all causes of attachment and aversion, such as contact with ordinary worldly people and inner relatives and friends, etc. Entrust the outer boundaries to the Four Great Kings, and the inner boundaries with fierce pride dispel obstacles and firmly visualize the protective circle. Second, the special preliminaries are to settle the three doors, which says: Abandon distractions. Therefore, on a comfortable cushion, the body is straight

Straighten your body and expel impure air. Abandon all distractions from the activities of the body, the speech of the tongue, and the arising thoughts of the mind, and relax the three doors into their natural state. Third, the preliminary practices of the instructions, training the mindstream, has two parts: common and uncommon preliminary practices. First: 'With strong renunciation, urge the mindstream.' This means relying on the four thoughts that turn the mind from samsara, with the strong force of renunciation for samsara, urge the mindstream towards the Dharma. Now, I have obtained the precious human body adorned with the eight freedoms and ten endowments, which is extremely difficult to find and, if found, is endowed with great meaning. I have met the particularly sublime refuge, the perfect lama who embodies all the Three Jewels. I have encountered the profound path, the secret mantra Vajrayana, which is as rare as the flower of the Udumbara tree. At this time, I must practice a genuine Dharma and ensure that the practice enters my mindstream. If I do not do this, but am instead swayed by the distractions and laziness of this life, then I am destroying myself, wandering endlessly in samsara and having to experience continuous suffering. What could be a greater deception than that? Even practicing the Dharma, if I do not quickly exert effort, death and impermanence are like lightning flashing in the sky, and there is no certainty when it will come. Outwardly, the four seasons change; inwardly, not a single sentient being is permanent. So I too may die tonight or tomorrow, or even now, there is no certainty. What should I do? At the time of death, the suffering of cutting off the vital points, and in the bardo, the fear of illusory appearances, are difficult to bear. Death alone is not enough; consciousness follows after karma. White, virtuous deeds lead to higher realms; black, non-virtuous deeds cast one into lower realms. All actions done will not be wasted without experiencing their ripening, and actions not done will not be encountered. Actions increase and change, so at the time of the cause they may be small, but when the result ripens it is vast. In relation to oneself, the power of virtue is small, and the power of negativity is great, so there is no way to avoid wandering in samsara. Wherever one is born in the six realms, high or low, the nature of the three sufferings is such that there is no opportunity for happiness, like entering a pit of fire or a forest of razors. Therefore, now is the time to be liberated from suffering.
