Moreover, it arises especially from generating devotion and serving a lama who has realization of the nature of mind. As it says in the Shri Chakrasamvara Tantra: By whose kindness, great bliss arises in an instant, I prostrate to the lotus feet of the Vajra-holder, who is like a precious lama. Therefore, to such a lama, from the depths of your heart and the depths of your bones, with the attitude of "I know nothing, you know everything," generate devotion, and from that, realization will arise. The way to generate devotion is to view the lama as the Buddha, the embodiment of the three kayas and five wisdoms. If you have the perception of the lama as an ordinary person, then no qualities will ever arise. Even if you see the lama as a Bodhisattva, you will doubt whether even the slightest Bodhicitta will arise, let alone realization of your own mind. Even if you see the lama as the Buddha himself, if you see him as a Nirmanakaya, it will only accomplish benefiting beings. If you see him as a Sambhogakaya, it will only accomplish your own wishes. The ultimate of devotion is to view the lama as the Dharmakaya Buddha, and to act with the attitude of "I know nothing, you know everything," and from that, realization of the nature of mind will arise. The great Brahmin Saraha said: If you diligently follow the lama's instructions with respect, there is no doubt that co-emergent wisdom will arise. Also, he said: The nature that is primordially unborn, today I realized it because the glorious lama showed it to me. The way realization arises is twofold: gradual and sudden. Among them, sudden realization refers to those individuals with excellent faculties who have gone through immeasurable training since previous lives. In this life, merely hearing the name of the lama, or seeing his face, or immediately after receiving instructions, they realize the meaning of emptiness. However, Je Phagmo Drupa considered that even that is gradual, in terms of relying on previous training. In the Yogini Tantra of Universal Conduct, it says: Whoever quickly knows what the lama has shown in stages, in hundreds of thousands of millions of lifetimes, it is urged by my wisdom. Generating correct faith and abiding in the realm of yogic practice. So it is said. Gradual means that realization arises by gradually generating devotion to the lama and accumulating merit, but that is said to be only the arising of a mere glimpse of realization. Furthermore, Je Phagmo Drupa said: Devotion top

It is also said that those who are born beyond transmigration should also be regarded as the person who is the basis of transcendence. Whatever those are, it is said that one should become accustomed to realizing the meaning of the unborn nature of one's own mind. As the great Brahmin Saraha said: Like the full moon, it arises from habit, like the light of the sun and moon illuminating the darkness. The teacher Chandrakirti also said: Called "Benefiting Beings," the Great Hero (Buddha) dwells within it, yogis should meditate from the nature of space. Having realized the meaning of mind-essence, one should meditate without artifice. As the teacher Togtsepa said: Ordinary awareness awakens in the heart, if the six consciousnesses are pure, then bliss is continuous. All actions are the cause of meaningless suffering, rest in the natural state of the beginning. As it is said in Hevajra: Without meditating on anything with the mind, one should meditate on all beings. Having fully known all dharmas, meditation itself is not meditation. Maitreya said: Since these natures are invisible, one should know to completely subdue them. The great Brahmin said: Do not defile the naturally pure mind with meditations, abide in the bliss of self-nature, do not grieve. Thus, from being accustomed to mind, appearance and mind merge into one, and dualistic grasping is purified in itself. As the great Brahmin said: Whatever is seen in front, behind, and in the ten directions, is just that. Today I, the protector, have cut off delusion, now I will not ask anyone. Knowing this, like ice melting into water, delusion appears as wisdom. Furthermore, from the chief of afflictions, the five poisons, arise the five wisdoms, and all other discriminations, whether subtle or gross, each generate their own particular wisdom. As the teacher Virupa said: Discriminating thoughts transformed into the five wisdoms, I will always rely on and practice. It is said in the Uttaratantra: When the five faculties are transformed, one will accomplish all meanings, all actions, and twelve hundred thousand qualities, and also attain supreme yoga. The Dakini Vajra Tent says: Whichever faculty is the path, therefore, that is its nature.
