These are the dharmas that have arising. If asked, who are the possessors of these dharmas? There are six, namely, three types of ordinary beings of the three realms, and three types of noble beings. Thus, in the Compendium of Ascertainments, that attainment can also be briefly known as three types: having seeds, having power, and having manifestation. Among them, for afflictive, unspecified, and innate virtuous dharmas, if one seeks the arising of those, their seeds have not been damaged by the decline of calm abiding, nor have they been completely destroyed by the noble path, and among virtuous dharmas, like those who have completely severed the roots of virtue, those that have not been damaged by wrong views are called having seeds. Thus, as long as their seeds have not been damaged and have not been completely destroyed, they are called having the arising or non-arising of afflictive and other dharmas. Those generated by the manifestation of virtuous dharmas, and unspecified dharmas, the conditions for the arising of some of them cause the seeds of the cause to grow and become complete, are called having power. The present dharmas, established by the nature of manifest objects themselves, are called having manifestation. Thus it is said. If asked, where do those individuals have the seeds, power, or manifestation of which dharmas? Ordinary beings in the desire realm are of two types: those who have completely severed the roots of virtue and those who have not. Those who have not severed the roots of virtue are also of two types: those who have the nature of completely passing beyond suffering and those who do not. The former has two dharmas of its own ground and two afflictive dharmas of the upper ground, these six dharmas are having seeds. If there is one who has separated from desire in the desire realm, then he does not have the afflictive nature of the desire realm, and if there is one who has separated from desire in the form realm, then he also does not have its afflictive nature, and others should also be understood accordingly. The three types of virtuous dharmas arising in the three realms, and the two mind-born bodies of the desire and form realms, and the crafts of the desire realm, and the learners.

It possesses the seven undefiled dharmas. Apart from the undefiled learner, the previous twelve dharmas may possess manifestation. If it is a dharma that does not enter Nirvana, then it does not possess the undefiled learner, and the others are as before. If it is one who has severed the root of virtue, then apart from the virtue born of its own realm, the other five possess the seed, and those who have not severed the root of virtue possess them. The virtue of one's own realm, the unwholesome and the two arising from effort, are possessed. For them, those who have abandoned the two afflictions of the higher realms will manifest. For ordinary beings born in the form realm, the two afflictions of the two higher realms, as well as the indeterminate result born of their own realm, and the two behavioral ones, as well as the virtue born of nature, possess the five dharmas as seeds. The virtue arising from effort of the two higher realms, as well as the mind of transformation of the desire realm, and the minds of transformation of their own realm, etc., are possessed. A total of eight dharmas may possess manifestation. For those born in the formless realm, the afflictions of their own realm, as well as the virtue born of nature, and the three indeterminate result born possess the seed, and some of the virtue arising from effort of their own realm are possessed, and their sum possesses manifestation. The two noble ones of the desire realm are the learner and the non-learner. The learner is also divided into two: those who have not separated from desire and those who have separated from desire. These are for those ordinary beings of the desire realm who fully enter the dharma of Nirvana, and should be counted as they are counted. These people possess the manifestation of the undefiled learner, while the non-learner possesses the undefiled, which is the difference. The non-learner possesses the virtue born of nature of the desire realm, as well as the result born, and the travelers as seeds, possessing the virtue arising from effort of the three realms and the non-learner undefiled, as well as the transformation mind of the two lower realms, and the skillful places of the desire realm. Their sum is possessed in manifestation. The noble ones of the form and formless realms are also the learner and the non-learner. Their learners are the same as their ordinary beings, possessing both the possession and manifestation of the undefiled learner, while the non-learner possessing the undefiled is the difference.
