Thus it is said: "Habitual afflictions, bad friends, poverty, and being under the control of others; in short, the faults of lineage are correctly stated as four types." It is said that here, the lineage that naturally abides in the uninterrupted (path) is what is desired to be manifested. The meaning is that although there is a lineage that naturally abides as the cause, sentient beings do not escape suffering because they possess the four faults that are obstacles to the entry of the Buddha's activity. Thus it is said. Secondly, the meaning of the branches is twofold: explaining the nature of lineage and refuting disputes about it. The first has four parts. First, the connection of the meaning is: since the proofs that arise from below, along with the aspects conforming to the decisive factor as previously stated, and the realization of the path of seeing and the path of meditation, etc., also arise, it is reasonable to explain the proofs after the aspects conforming to the decisive factor. However, since that also depends on the basis, first, the lineage that serves as the basis for proof is explained. Second, the root has four parts: in terms of realization and the uninterrupted path, the path of liberation, and special qualities, there are six, two, one, and four respectively, according to their numbers. The first is: the four aspects conforming to the decisive factor, and the paths of seeing and meditation, are called the six dharmas of realization because they sequentially realize the distinctions, and because they enable the unseen to be seen and the seen to be directed towards manifestation. It is connected by saying that the basis of these is called lineage. The sutra says: "Subhuti, there are no traces of birds in the sky, nor are they perceived. Similarly, the meaning of the words of a Bodhisattva is non-existent and imperceptible." Thus, it is said that the state of heat and abiding at the edge of the correct position are non-existent and imperceptible, which refers to the peak; the illusory person abiding in form is non-existent and imperceptible, which refers to patience; the meaning of the words of a Bodhisattva who practices emptiness internally like an illusory person is non-existent and imperceptible, which refers to the supreme dharma; the form body of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, the meaning of the words is non-existent and imperceptible, which refers to the path of seeing; the meaning of the words of the unborn is non-existent and imperceptible, which indicates the basis of the path of meditation. The second is that those paths of seeing and meditation arise from

Because the power causes the arising of antidotes and the abandonment of unfavorable aspects, that is, cessation is simultaneous, therefore, their supports are in order: the absence and invisibility of the light in which the orb of the sun manifestly appears. Thus, it speaks of the support of the antidote. At the time when the fire of the eon blazes, the absence and invisibility of all aspects of conditioned phenomena, thus it speaks of the support of abandonment. The third is: the complete exhaustion and abandonment of the conceptualizations of arising and ceasing of those to be abandoned and the antidotes is: in the discipline of the Tathagata, the perfectly complete Buddha, there is no place for bad discipline, nor is it visible. The fourth is: the support of wisdom and compassion, the cause of not abiding in samsara and nirvana, is the absence and invisibility of the light of the sun and moon. The support of the disciples of those powers, such as the Shravakas, and the uncommon qualities of the Dharma is: the absence and invisibility of the light of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas and planets and stars and wish-fulfilling jewels and lightning. Then, according to the capacity of the beings to be tamed, the support of the order of benefiting others by establishing them in the three vehicles is: the absence and invisibility of the light of the gods of the four great king lineages. As long as samsara exists, the support for the wisdom of benefiting others to enter without diligence and effort is: the absence and invisibility of the light of the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha. In the third explanation, the first of the three, namely, the determination of the individual nature, the determination of the order, and the determination of the number, is: for the time being, this is an auxiliary word indicating the order. At the beginning of the practice of meditation-born, the four heat positions, etc., which are in accordance with the part that definitely distinguishes the nature of worldly meditation-born, arise, thus indicating the lineage that is the support of those. Similarly, apply it to others as well. After that, the supramundane meditation-born, the path of seeing that newly realizes the truth that was not previously realized, and the path of meditation that makes the seen habitual. After that, by the power of the arising of the path of seeing and meditation, all the antidote aspects included in seeing and meditation arise, and all the conceptualizations of grasping and apprehending, the unfavorable aspects, cease simultaneously.
