These are the distinctions based on the nine-nine objects that are the basis for aggregates and so on. Secondly, the conceptual thought of the grasper, its characteristic is that it has two aspects: it apprehends by manifestly clinging to the person as substantially existent and the individual as nominally existent. Secondly, each of those is also a grasped conceptualization with nine-nine aspects in that way, in order, because of focusing on the nine-nine objects such as the self as independent and the aggregates. Secondly, the extensive explanation is in two parts: the connection and the nature of each. The first is: the meaning of explaining the four conceptualizations that were briefly stated, summarizing them with just names, is this. Secondly, there are two parts: the extensive explanation of grasped conceptualization and grasping conceptualization. The first of these is in two parts: the basis of defilement and purification. The first of these is: the conceptualization that is the basis of the foundation of defilement is the object of differentiation, the number is nine, because there are nine objects. Those nine objects are also condensed into four: the object of defilement, the fault, the object of focus, and knowing its characteristic. The first is five: merely taking the object as the object and manifestly clinging to it is ignorance because it obscures seeing that very reality. Manifestly clinging to it in the aspect of negation or affirmation is called conceptualizing the object of ignorance. Similarly, it should be applied to the others as well. The sutra says: Shariputra, these dharmas are not in such a way as how childish ordinary beings manifestly cling to them. Because the five aggregates of grasping, such as form, arise from ignorance taking hold of everything, the conceptualization about that is: Shariputra, form is not existent because it is between emptiness within and emptiness of the nature of non-existence of things. The conceptualization that takes those five aggregates as objects is called manifestly clinging to name and form, and the conceptualization about that is: after examining those dharmas that do not exist in what way, it is called manifestly clinging to name and form. As it is said: If there is acceptance of things as real, then the view of permanence and annihilation will become an error, because that thing is permanent and impermanent and changes. Thus, from manifestly clinging to name and form, there is attachment to the two extremes of permanence, which is unchanging and constant, or annihilation, which is that which existed before but later ceases to exist.

Therefore, the conceptualization of it is: Those who are attached to all phenomena think that these are the two extremes of annihilation. Like this, because of clinging to permanence and annihilation, one cannot understand that afflictions such as greed should be abandoned, and that purity such as faith should be accepted, and the conceptualization of it is: form is afflicted, form is purified, thus one cannot understand, one cannot see. Second, the faults of those are: Like this, because one cannot understand what should be accepted and what should be abandoned, generosity and so on do not abide in the noble path, therefore the conceptualization of it is: it is not abiding. How is it not abiding? It is said that it is not abiding in the perfection of generosity. Third, in terms of the object of focus: the object of focus and the self and so on, those two are not the nature of affliction. For it, the object of focus is the six perfections, and the conceptualization of it is: when practicing the great Bodhi's Prajnaparamita, one does not cling to Prajnaparamita, and does not truly follow and see, thus learn. If there is a self and a self, then one knows it as other. In this way and so on, he summarizes the other, therefore the conceptualization of it is: because it is extremely pure, one does not cling to the self, and one cannot see. In terms of understanding the nature of affliction: the path that generates purity, and so on, for the truth of cessation, the conceptualization of form is: the flesh is extremely pure, that is, there is no birth, no appearance, no manifestation of fabrication. The second is: the conceptualization of the antidote's support is the basis of classification. There are nine kinds of numbers. Because there are nine kinds of objects such as aggregates. For the nature of the object, pure things are also, to be understood by six: condition, cause, dependent arising, its examination, and its classification. The first is: form and so on belonging to the pure part are gathered in one direction of the same kind, that is, aggregates, the conceptualization of it is: because of unskilled means, one clings to form and manifests attachment. The second is: the doors of arising of mind and mental events such as the eye and so on belonging to the pure part, the conceptualization of it is: one clings to the eye and manifests attachment. The third is: clinging to the kind that becomes the source of pure fruit, that is, the eye and form and the consciousness of the eye.
