If all habits are abandoned, they will naturally subside on their own, so there is no need to abandon them separately. Furthermore, if these are merely dualistic appearances free from attachment, then it is highly unreasonable to want them to have a negative form, because affirmation and negation are solely the activity of conceptual consciousness. Therefore, here, conceptualization is characterized by the apprehension of a mixture of sound and meaning, because it is what is to be abandoned on the bodhisattva path and is the nature of manifest clinging. Secondly, here, most Chinese and Tibetan commentators consider the apprehending and apprehended conceptualizations of this context to be the nature of the path of application, and they also consider them to have a negative form. In the Condensed Commentary on Buddha's Wisdom, it says: 'Relying on things themselves means, by what is it known that things such as the aggregates are merely expressions?' 'Relying on antidotes means, merely establishing things such as the perfection of wisdom, which are completely purified, as mind-only.' 'Relying on what is substantial means, by what form of grasping does one mainly obstruct the objective things that are falsely imputed as substantial, such as the mind?' 'Relying on imputation means, by what does one completely distinguish that even imputation is not grasping?' Serlingpa said: 'Although conceptualizations are limitless, because they are dissimilar, only the conceptualization of conceptualization is shown on the path, and nothing else is done, so there is no fault because it is neither to be abandoned nor to be adopted.' Most Tibetan commentators also agree with these views. The noble one considers there to be two apprehended conceptualizations: relying on things themselves and relying on the side of antidotes. There are two apprehending conceptualizations: the dependent one with the self as substantially existent, and the dependent one with the person as imputedly existent. Among them, the first and second, which correspond to the definitive aspect, become the two apprehended conceptualizations in order. The third and fourth also become the two apprehending conceptualizations.' They understand it this way and consider these four conceptualizations to be merely the nature of the definitive aspect, having a negative form. These views do not seem reasonable to me, because the bodhisattva
