Because I see that the sounds of expression in worldly fame are indeed capable of indicating various meanings. If, in worldly fame, some words indicate a single meaning, and some indicate multiple meanings, then the doubt about determining a single meaning is not established. Wise scholars who understand reasoning, as a dharma, would such a vidyā-mantra itself cause doubt about being certain of the meaning of each expressible meaning alone? It would not. Because they are wise people who have not seen the true reason that determines that the sounds of expression are certain to be the expressers of only a single meaning. They have not seen such a reason because there is no true reason to prove that the sounds of expression cannot express multiple meanings other than a single meaning. Because the sounds of expression have the ability to indicate multiple meanings. If it is said that the determination of the meaning of the vidyā is shown to the king by the vidyā itself, and the king shows it to us, therefore the meaning of the vidyā is certain. Such a vidyā-mantra, as a dharma, please carefully distinguish the difference between a speculator speaking the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā under the guise of the vidyā, and other non-Buddhists steadfastly speaking the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā according to their own wishes, and those two people speaking the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā according to their own wishes and not speaking the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā. Because there is no difference between the two of them speaking the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā according to their own wishes. Because the vidyā itself does not have the ability to speak the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā, and the speculator speaks the certainty of the meaning of the vidyā under the guise of the vidyā. For example, when asking for the way to the city of Pāṭaliputra, some cunning people say, "The way is this right one," and point the way under the guise of a talking tree stump, while another person steadfastly says according to his own wishes, "The way is this right one." Because the tree stump does not have the ability to speak the way, there is no difference between those two people pointing the way according to their own wishes, just like that. Furthermore, that statement that "the meaning of the vidyā is certain, but even if it exists, it is not known," such a vidyā-mantra, as a dharma, from where are you certain to be the clarifier of only one meaning?

Because it is not so. Because it can be used as a speaker for all things. Furthermore, which person knows your meaning that is not man-made, because they do not know. Because such a thing is beyond the senses. If you say that worldly words and texts also have no definite meaning, and even if they do, they are not known. Then, worldly words and texts, as dharma, apart from expressing the definite meaning established by the speaker's intention, there is no meaning that is not man-made, because the meaning that is not man-made is not observed by valid cognition. Furthermore, showing without showing the cause of showing the meaning that is not man-made, the sounds that are speakers, as dharma, the speaker's intention is the cause of determining each of their objects, because whatever the speaker's intention appears, that is what you speak of. The verbal convention that connects names and name-holders is the clarifier of the respective determinations of what is spoken by speech, because it makes one understand the meaning to which it is applied, and does not make others understand. Therefore, the sound of reason, as dharma, is the only one that determines the meaning of what is spoken, from where does it come? Because it is not so. Because the cause of uniquely determining the meaning of what is spoken, the intention of expression and the clarifying convention, you do not have, because you are not man-made. If you say that the sounds of expression such as the sound of reason are by nature the only ones that determine the meaning of what is spoken. Then, the sounds of expression such as the sound of reason, as dharma, the intention of expression cannot be used for other meanings, and moreover, the convention applied to the meaning of what is spoken is also meaningless, because by nature it is the only one that determines the meaning of what is spoken. If you say that from the verbal convention, the difference of the natural connection between sound and meaning is clarified. Then, the sound of reason, as dharma, the unique determination of each of the meanings spoken is also from where? Because it is not so, because the verbal convention does not clarify multiple meanings. That kind of tenet establishment, the verbal convention, as dharma, you are uniquely determined for each object, what is that? Because there is not, because from the object it is used arbitrarily only by the will of the person. For this reason, the verbal convention is
