are: the dhyana that is in accordance with the arising and subsequent attainment of the samadhi of the higher grounds. The discernment-part is the dhyana that is in accordance with the arising and subsequent attainment of the uncontaminated. As it is said: Pure, declining, part-like, etc., the four in order are, the arising of afflictions, one's own ground, above and uncontaminated following. As it is said. There is no special part in the peak of existence, because there is no other ground above it. There are also four kinds of afflicted ones: The one that is mainly view is: the dhyana that is associated with any of the sixty-two views. The one that is mainly craving is: the dhyana that is associated with the desire to taste the bliss of dhyana. The one that is mainly pride is: the dhyana that is associated with the pride that is filled with samadhi. The dhyana that is mainly doubt is: the dhyana that is associated with the doubt of whether the samadhi that one has attained is the path to liberation or not. The formless ones should also be understood in the same way. Furthermore, among these, there are two each of the dhyana and formlessness that are the cause of equipoise, and the dhyana and formlessness that are the result of arising. The first is: the single-pointedness that abandons the dhyana and formlessness of arising, and is associated with the corresponding equipoise. The second is: the maturation that is abandoned by the equipoise that is the cause, and the dhyana and formlessness that are included in the fruit of the same kind. Third, examining where these first arise: the dhyana and formlessness of the equipoise that is the cause arise in the lower grounds such as humans, because they do not arise in their own ground or higher grounds. The reason for this is that the higher grounds do not seek the lower grounds, and the self-ground does not have the aspect of observing tranquility and coarseness. The dhyana and formlessness that arise as a result arise and abide in the gods of the form and formless realms. Fourth, examining what is the basis of the path of transcendence: the actual basis of the first dhyana, as well as the near-attainment of the first, as well as the specialty of the actual basis, and the three dhyanas above it, the second, third, and fourth, are called the six dhyana grounds. These and the first three formless ones other than the peak of existence

Therefore, these nine are the samadhi in which the movement of perception is clear. It is said to be the basis of the path of seeing and the path of meditation that transcends the world. These dhyanas and formless realms, which are included in the path of samsara, are called worldly paths. Second, in the path that transcends the world, the nature of the path, and the explanation of the four truths as objects, the first of the two is: Because it has never been familiar with samsara before, it is the path that transcends the world. This is obtained by seeing the suchness of the four noble truths, such as suffering. The second is the general explanation and the separate explanation, the first of which is: These sufferings, etc., are seen as sufferings, etc., by the noble ones, therefore they are called noble truths, not by ordinary people, because ordinary people are inverted in their perception of suffering, etc., as truth, etc. As it is said in the sutra: A thorn in the palm of the hand, people cannot recognize it, but when it enters the eye, it causes discomfort and harm. Ordinary people are like the palm of the hand, unable to recognize the slightest bit of the suffering of action. The noble one is like the eye, it pierces the heart deeply. It is said. Why are the four truths necessarily these? Because those who desire liberation should abandon and obtain only these. What should be abandoned, that is, all the causes and effects of the side of complete defilement, are included in suffering and accumulation. What should be obtained, that is, all the causes and effects of the side of complete purification, are included in cessation and path. Why is the order of the four truths fixed? Because it is established according to the order of manifestation. As it is said: How is the order of manifestation of truth? It is like this, for example, when a doctor cures a disease, he must first understand the nature of the disease, then examine the cause of the disease and remove it. Then, the state of happiness free from disease is to be obtained. To achieve this, medicine should be taken. Similarly, those who desire liberation should also understand the truth of suffering and abandon its cause, the truth of accumulation.
