Therefore, in summary, this is the law of all things. If one asks, what is the use of explaining this Dharma? By hearing, contemplating, and practicing this profound and vast Dharma, one can gradually realize it, thereby abandoning the three all-encompassing afflictions of afflictions, karma, and birth. Therefore, realizing this Dharma is the method of abandoning all afflictions. Moreover, eliminating all afflictions can also stop the suffering of samsara. Therefore, this profound and vast Dharma, which is relied upon by virtuous people, should be proclaimed by the wise, and those who desire well-being should listen attentively. This is (the meaning of this passage). Chapter One. Second, regarding the nature of the treatise to be entered, there are three aspects: the object to be determined, the path to be practiced, and the fruit to be obtained. In the first of these, first, the contaminated and uncontaminated are generally explained; second, the contaminated is specifically explained; and third, the tenets of oneself and others are jointly determined. In the first of these, there are three parts: explaining the aggregates, elements, and sources separately; and jointly determining. In the first of the two, there are also three parts. First, regarding the aggregates, there are two parts: a brief explanation and a detailed explanation. The first part is: Because they are made by the gathering and meeting of conditions, they are conditioned phenomena. Because they possess characteristics, they are dharmas. All of these are included in the aggregate of form, and the aggregates of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, which are included by the word "etc.", are included in these five aggregates. Among them, that which can be broken and destroyed is form. All things of the same kind are gathered together in the mind, hence the aggregate. Experiencing is feeling. Knowing by gathering is perception. The mind manifestly creates is formation. Discriminating objects individually is consciousness. Gathering these things and their kinds together in the mind is called the aggregate of that and that. The second part is divided into five points. First, the detailed explanation of the aggregate of form is divided into three parts: detailed differentiation from the perspective of nomenclature; brief summarization from the perspective of characteristics; and separate explanation of the meaning of both detailed and brief explanations. Among them, first, it is explained that the five faculties are unmanifest form and have obstruction, then it is explained that the five objects are manifest form and have obstruction, and these substantial forms are examined as one or different, and differentiated.

The form that is not indicative. Among the four, which are indicating without obstruction, the second has two aspects: briefly indicating from the perspective of categories, and extensively explaining from the perspective of essence. Among these two, the meaning of the eye faculty is indicated as indicated and obstructive, while the meaning of the other four faculties, such as the ear faculty, is indicated as unindicated and obstructive. How many dharmas are there in the aggregate of form? If divided in detail, there are eleven types of form: the five faculties such as the eye, the five objects such as form, and the forms that are not indicative. If briefly summarized from the perspective of characteristics, there are two, such as "this is here, that is there," and so on. In terms of color and shape, that which can be used by the mind as a coarse object is the form used as an object; and that which can cause changes when colored objects come into contact with each other, such as when a hand touches a flower and its color fades, is the form that can be changed by contact. There are two types. The first is the indicated form, and the second is the obstructive form. As it is said, in the *Abhidharmasamuccaya*: "What is the characteristic of the aggregate of form? The characteristic of the existing form is that it exists in two ways: the form that exists by contact, and the form that exists as an object." As it is said. Among the eleven forms that have been explained, what is the characteristic of the faculty? Because it cannot be indicated in the realm of eye consciousness, it is an unindicated form; because it obstructs other colored objects, it is an obstructive form, etc. Because it can manifest the image of consciousness as the form of an object, it is the primary form, which is the characteristic of the colored faculty. These are the five faculties of eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body. As it is also said in the sutra: "Bhikkhus, the eye is an internal source, made of the four great elements, and is the primary form." As it is said. Among these, the eye faculty is located inside the eyeball, shaped like a saffron flower, and exists without mixing with each other. The ear is located inside the auditory meatus, shaped like the awn of a barley grain. The nose is located inside the nasal cavity, shaped like copper probes placed side by side. The tongue is shaped like a crescent moon, and there is a small area about the size of a hair tip in the center of the tongue.
