These are the appearances. Among them, as previously stated, the consciousnesses arising from the sense faculties that possess the fault of the cause of delusion are considered to be mistaken consciousnesses in relation to the consciousnesses of well-functioning sense faculties that are free from the faults of internal and external harm. Just as worldly consciousness is of two types, mistaken and not mistaken, so too, to show that objects are also of two types, true and false, (the text says:) "Whatever is apprehended by the six unimpaired sense faculties, that which is understood by the world is true; the remainder is considered false even by the world." This is the meaning of what was said. Whatever object is apprehended by the six sense faculties that are free from internal and external causes of harm, that which is understood by the world, because worldly people manifestly cling to it as true, is not deceptive in conventional terms. Therefore, it is established as true from the perspective of the world itself, but not from the perspective of the noble ones, because they see those things as similar to reflections. Furthermore, whatever is apprehended by the consciousnesses arising from the impairment of the sense faculties, such as reflections, is established as false even from the perspective of the world, because worldly people do not manifestly cling to these as true, and therefore there is no conventional designation of them as objects of acceptance or rejection. Secondly, taking the example of false objects, (the text says:) "Those non-Buddhists who are greatly agitated by the sleep of ignorance, who examine the self as it is, and whatever is examined in illusions, mirages, etc., these are not even existent in the world." This is the meaning of what was said. The internal and external non-Buddhists who are greatly agitated and confused by the thick sleep of ignorance, which is ignorant of reality, examine the self, the chief, the lord, the atoms, the basis of all, etc., as they are in their own tenets, and whatever is conceptually constructed externally in the appearances of impaired sense faculties, such as illusions and mirages, etc., these are not even existent in the conventions of the world, because worldly people do not make conventional designations through them. The tenets established by the internal and external proponents, in ultimate truth,
