One should only commit to arising swiftly. Because dependent origination is momentary, when cause and effect arise without interruption, liberation is reasonable because the arising ceases due to the incompleteness of causes and conditions. Furthermore, all extraordinary individuals who desire liberation commit to being liberated by completely eradicating the attachment to self and what belongs to self. Therefore, if the self exists with its own essence, then there would be no change in its nature, so in the state of liberation, there would still be the term "self." If that were the case, it would be unreasonable to realize that there is no self and abandon self-grasping, because the cause of engaging in self-grasping, the self, would still exist undiminished, just like in the state of samsara. Therefore, the statement that one attains nirvana by abandoning self-grasping through the knowledge of suchness would also be false. Therefore, those who desire liberation should commit to the absence of self, because liberation is reasonably attained through the absence of self and the abandonment of self-grasping. If the self exists, then there would be the fault of excessively engaging in self-grasping in the state of liberation. Fearing this, if one commits to the fact that there is the nature of no-self at the time of liberation and realizes it to be liberated, then the nature of the self that appears to the wisdom of liberation was not present even in the time of previous samsara, and the absence is exactly the same as the nature of the self before. Because when not associated with other related things, the wisdom is not mistaken in the solitary essence, so what is seen is said to be the nature. For example, when gold is mixed with iron, the inner nature does not appear clearly. When it is not mixed with iron, the way one perceives one's own essence is its nature. Similarly, in samsara, due to the influence of qualities and other factors, one does not realize one's own essence as it is. In liberation, because one is not associated with other related things, the way one realizes one's own essence is its nature. And because one realizes the absence of self even in liberation, one should also realize the absence of self in samsara. Second, refuting the fault of annihilation in the absence of self: If there is no self, then the conditioned phenomena, which are of the nature of perishing moment by moment, would become annihilated because they perish as soon as they arise, if one thinks like that. In the world, impermanence is not understood as the meaning of annihilation. Because the cause and effect of grass and trees, etc., that have been present since the first eon

Because those who enter (the Dharma) with reason are still observing (things). If impermanence means annihilation, then what reason is there for impermanent things like grass and trees to exist? Wouldn't it become causeless? This must be admitted without a doubt. If not, if the view that the meaning of impermanence is the cessation of permanence were to be true, then no sentient being would ever develop ignorance, because impermanence itself is annihilation. The word "also" includes happiness, etc., and desire, etc. Therefore, liberation is attained without effort. If it is thought that the permanent self, the cause of all things arising, exists, and therefore, because of that cause, there will be no view of annihilation for things like grass that enter (samsara), then it has already been said that permanent things that do not depend on causes and conditions are non-existent like donkey horns. Or, even if the self is assumed to exist, it is not reasonable as a cause of entering samsara. For example, even if the self exists, external and internal forms appear to arise from things other than the self. Because it can be seen that fire arises from the meeting of a jewel fire mirror and the sun, water arises from the meeting of a water mirror and the moon, sprouts arise from seeds, and ophthalmologists and others cause eyes, etc., to arise. Just as forms arise from other things, they also appear to exist from other things. Because it can be seen that things like fire exist in causes like firewood and fuel. It is also seen to be completely destroyed from other things, because the causes like firewood are incomplete. If the self is the cause of entering samsara, then the arising and ceasing of things, etc., would depend entirely on it, but that is not the case, therefore there is no self. When there is no arising from the permanent, just as the self-empty sprout arises from the seed that depends on other causes and conditions, all causal things, whether annihilated, subtle, etc., all impermanent and selfless things, will arise from impermanent and selfless causes and conditions, so the wise should understand. Thus, for conditioned things, permanence and annihilation are like a vajra thunderbolt (destroying) the world and beyond the world.
