Thus it is said: When asked, the Victorious One abides without speaking. Why is it that such profound Dharma is not spoken to beings who are not vessels? Therefore, the wise consider the All-Knowing One to be omniscient. As it is said. Therefore, what reason is there to say that the All-Knowing One is not all-knowing? Not speaking the profound Dharma to those who have not become vessels for it is proof of the All-Knowing One's omniscience. If the Able One does not speak what should not be spoken, then was it not because he thought of Devadatta that he said, "The son with torn clothes eats hairy rice"? Answer: This was not to harm others, but to prevent falling into sin. Thus, if Devadatta had not been denigrated at that time, many followers would have abandoned the correct path taught by the Buddha and fallen into the evil path taught by Devadatta. Therefore, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are skilled in means, and in order to eliminate meaningless things, sometimes they speak unpleasant words, but they have no faults, because they have the benefit of beings in mind. Words that are initiated with the benefit of beings in mind, even if they are unpleasant, are only good, because the distinction between good and evil depends on the goodness or badness of the intention, and not on whether actions such as walking, coming, standing, and walking themselves can become merit or non-merit. Therefore, in all actions of the three doors, the mind is important and should be emphasized, because the nature of the three doors' actions, propelled by the mind, is determined to be good or bad. Second, the qualities of a Bodhisattva. How he does the work of benefiting others. The faults of hating him. The reasons for having faith in him. Incidentally, praising generosity. Other qualities of a Bodhisattva, six in total. First, how all actions are transformed into goodness. The merit of generating Bodhicitta, two things. First, the mind is the main thing in all actions, therefore, for those who have attained mastery over the mind of a Bodhisattva through mindfulness, the actions of the three doors, whether they are virtuous actions such as generosity, or non-virtuous actions such as evil deeds, or unpredicted things such as crafts and conduct.

Whatever it may be, it will turn into the goodness that is the cause of the high status and definite goodness of beings. All of this is because it is initiated with the intention of benefiting others temporarily and ultimately. If virtuous conduct can turn into goodness, how can non-virtuous and neutral conduct turn into goodness? These can also turn into goodness, because Bodhisattvas are able to control their minds as they wish, not engaging in non-virtue, but being able to engage in virtue. Ordinary people should not engage in killing and so on with the intention of benefiting others, because even if there is only virtue at the beginning, because they have not gained control over their minds, the latent tendencies of afflictions such as anger will awaken, and in the end it may become non-virtuous. The second part has two divisions. First, the merit of generating the mind of enlightenment oneself: From what point is one called a Bodhisattva? There are two types of Bodhicitta: conventional and ultimate. The first is characterized by the desire to realize enlightenment, and does not have the companionship of the six perfections such as generosity. The second is the nature of non-dual wisdom, possessing the companionship of the perfections. Among these, the first exists in all stages of ordinary beings, from the stage of the first action to the stage of aspiration. Those who possess this are called nominal or labeled Bodhisattvas. The second is the nature of the ten grounds, from the first ground, Joyful, up to the Cloud of Dharma. Those who possess this are not nominal, but must be referred to by the name of Bodhisattva, and are therefore called ultimate Bodhisattvas. Because the difference in the merit of the initial generation of the mind of the Bodhisattvas is shown, the remainder will be fully understood, therefore, for the time being, it is explained in order to show the difference in the merit of the initial generation of the mind, the Joyful Ground: What merit is accumulated to become the merit of the wheel-turning monarch, the lord of the four continents? If this merit is very great, then what need is there to mention the merit of transforming all beings on earth into wheel-turning monarchs?
