Because their minds, driven by compassion, give entirely for the sake of benefiting others. Therefore, the merit arising from their giving is inexhaustible. Sixth, like this, a Bodhisattva who has accumulated an immeasurable mass of merit, even if they have a small amount of sin committed in the past as an ordinary being, it is overwhelmed by the power of great virtue and cannot produce results. As it is said: A few grains of salt can change a little water, but not the Ganges River. Similarly, even a small act of sin, know that it is for the vast root of virtue. As it is said. Therefore, a Bodhisattva with virtuous deeds does not have something called not accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, but will accomplish all the benefits of sentient beings, because they have no small amount of non-merit, and because they have accumulated immeasurable roots of virtue. If a Bodhisattva is entirely virtuous and does not return to samsara, why does he not go to Nirvana? Because the Bodhisattva has a great intention to benefit others, even if he remains in samsara, he is not defiled by all mental afflictions like a lotus that is not stained by water, and he is not harmed by the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death. Therefore, for them, there is no difference between abiding in samsara and entering Nirvana, so they do not go to Nirvana. From the first moment of generating the mind of enlightenment, Bodhisattvas become empowered to benefit other sentient beings. What is the cause for this? Because of the excellence of accumulating the two accumulations, a Bodhisattva who has obtained mastery over the mind and consciously takes birth in samsara for the benefit of others, what is the reason why they do not become the lord of all worlds at all times? Because they certainly become the lord. Third, someone might ask: What inconceivable results arise from the Bodhisattvas' practice in this way? This is reasonable, just as different fruits are observed from different seeds such as barley, sesame, and rice, from an excellent cause

Especially, the inconceivable power of the Thus-gone Ones, the teachers who go from cause to effect, can also be acknowledged. Like this, excellence, that is, from the superior, even more superior, becoming superior things, also appears in this world, such as the Brahmin who is excellent in caste, the Peak of Existence which is excellent in birthplace, Mount Meru which is excellent in mountains, and the Wheel-Turning King who is excellent in kings. Similarly, the excellence in wisdom will also appear, reaching the ultimate of omniscient wisdom. Therefore, it is known even to children in the world that an effect that is in accordance with it arises from an excellent cause. Here too, from the vast abundance of the two accumulations of the Bodhisattvas, the effect that is in accordance with it, the inconceivable power of the Thus-gone Ones, must also exist, please understand it in this way. Fourth, the Great Vehicle with cause and effect is reasonable in the way it has been said. Why do most sentient beings not respect the Great Vehicle and its fruit, the inconceivable power of the Buddha? Because those with weak minds are afraid of the profound and vast. Just as foolish people, because of their weak minds, cannot distinguish and are afraid of the very profound Dharma, the nature of dependent origination and non-arising, so too, people of low caste and intelligence do not believe in and are afraid of the very rare, profound, and vast Great Vehicle and the excellent power of the Thus-gone Ones. Just because of that, it does not mean that it does not exist, therefore, wanting to take care of all beings, one should generate joy in the Great Vehicle with cause and effect, and have even more faith in it. From the Four Hundred Verses on Yoga Practice, Explanation of the Fifth Chapter, which shows the practice of Bodhisattvas.
