From now on, even robbing property will no longer be a sin that exists from the very beginning, because it is the initial act of seizing an opportunity. The king's seizing of an opportunity is later, because the thief first seizes the opportunity from the owner of the property, and therefore he is punished with penalties. Therefore, the thief himself is the first to seize the opportunity, so it will not become a sin. Here it is said: One will be happy when defeating the enemy on the battlefield and obtaining wealth accumulated by suppressing them with one's own bravery. Even if one dies on the battlefield, because he himself has abandoned his body on the battlefield, he will not be devoured by demons, but will ascend to the heavens. If one accumulates merit, one will obtain the heavens, or descend and become the lord of the land to enjoy. Therefore, son of Kunti, be sure to determine and enjoy the battle. That is why it is said. Then, should the king be very happy on the battlefield? Just as indulging in alcohol, gambling, and women, and completely squandering all possessions is not meritorious, because squandering possessions is related to attachment and clinging. Similarly, is it that giving oneself entirely in anger and ferocity on the battlefield is an offering and merit that pleases the holy ones? By what means will one ascend to the heavens by that? If the king is the protector of all the realms of the world, it is reasonable to be happy, then, the king is the protector of the world, because he follows the teachings, and in order to protect his own wealth and life, he abandons what is unreasonable and engages in what is reasonable. King, you have no other protectors, and being without a protector is also the basis of decline, because there is no one to show what is beneficial and what is not, and one becomes free and unrestrained. Therefore, because that very protector has not completely liberated the king himself from the suffering of the lower realms, but has restrained him, therefore, what wise person would be happy with that? If a king who inflicts severe punishments on those who do what should not be done, fame will follow even after death, therefore, should the king become one who inflicts severe punishments? If some merit arises from fame after death, it is reasonable to inflict severe punishments for that purpose, but after the king dies, fame does not bring any merit such as eliminating sins.

I (think so). If my good reputation lasts as long as it exists in the world, I will not fall into evil destinies. Therefore, if one thinks that fame will turn into merit, then, King, you have both the good reputation of merit and the great reputation of being merciless, plundering others' wealth, etc., how could you not have it? Precisely because you have it, it is inevitable that you will eventually fall into evil destinies due to accumulating sins. Furthermore, if mere reputation could eliminate sins and become a cause of happiness, then, those who raise dogs, because dogs have majesty and great fame, if they could also eliminate sins, but that is not the case. Therefore, the king who wishes me well should not inflict severe punishment on me. Secondly, refuting pride based on lineage: Whoever is a prince with the lineage of a king is suitable to inherit the throne, and others are not. Therefore, if one thinks that this is a lineage worthy of pride, then, if only one being could rule the kingdom, then pride would be reasonable, but that is not the case. For example, when all beings enjoy the power of the kingdom, this is produced by their merit. Moreover, since this is not limited to one person, then it cannot be said that this being is not the basis for enjoying the power of the kingdom. Therefore, this is not worthy of pride, because it is common to all those who have merit. If it is said that the laws for governing the kingdom, such as the way of governing the people, the way of judging punishments, the way of giving rewards, etc., are only taught to the king's lineage, and not to the other three lineages, therefore only the king's lineage can govern the kingdom, so it is worthy of pride, then, that is not the case. The name of lineage is merely a worldly designation, and in essence there is no distinction between good and bad lineages. For example, the people of the first kalpa were born miraculously without relying on external seeds, produced by thought, able to walk in the sky, possessing supernatural powers, eating joy, and without male and female organs. Therefore, there were no different lineages among them. Later, greedy people began to eat the yellow oil and
