Therefore, one should not cling to permanence. Second, regarding why one should not grieve for the death of others, there is a brief instruction, as well as a determination through refutation. The first point is: Although one does not wish for aging and death, if one thinks that aging and death are the cause of sorrow, and one does not have them oneself, that is not right. Because you yourself have become a being with the nature of death, and have not done the act of transcending death, you should grieve for your own death. Why grieve for the death of sons and others? This is not appropriate. If someone has transcended the lord of death himself, then it is understandable to grieve for the death of others. However, while oneself is still the object of the lord of death's actions, to say that others are rebuked by the lord of death, how can such a person not be blamed by other noble ones? Therefore, when seeing others die, one should determine that one will also be like that, and thus remain vigilant. Do not always enter the room of sorrow, thereby harming the side of virtue. The second part has six points. The first point is to refute that leaving without asking is the cause of sorrow: If it is said that going to the next world without being asked, after being taken as a son, is the cause of suffering, then, when a certain sentient being has not been asked by you, "Please be my son," and voluntarily becomes your son, when he wants to go to the next world, he does not ask you, "I am leaving," and leaves on his own accord, this is unreasonable. Because both coming and going are arbitrary, this is its nature. Or, this is also not leaving without asking, because he has already wordlessly allocated the share of going to the next world. It is just because of your own ignorance that you do not realize that the share of the son's departure has been allocated. So, what is the manner of allocating the share of departure? His joy of going to the next world, through the continuous transformation from one moment to the next, is shown by aging and weakening itself. The second point is to refute that attachment is the cause of sorrow: If it is said that extreme attachment to a son is the cause of the father's sorrow, then excessive attachment to a son is also unreasonable. Just as the father is dear to the son, the son should also be dear to the father.

is not born. Therefore, just as worldly beings develop attachment to lower things like sons, it is impossible to develop attachment to higher things like fathers. Because attachment pulls like karma, this world goes from lower birth places to lower ones, so even heaven is difficult to attain, let alone liberation. Therefore, one should cherish respect and attachment to parents and other superiors. Furthermore, is this attachment to a son for a son who is obedient or for one who is disobedient? In this regard, when a son is disobedient to his father and does not listen, even if the father is happy, he does not feel sad or attached to the son. If attachment arises for one who is obedient, and in response it is said, "He listens to me," then only attachment like a transaction of hands and feet arises, and it is not attachment because of the son. If it is said that regardless of obedience or disobedience, the father's attachment to the son is always firm, then attachment is not firm. Because the suffering caused by separation from the object of attachment, such as a son, is seen to quickly turn away from people's hearts. Therefore, attachment also depends on impermanence and manifests as impermanent. If the bonds of attachment are not loosened, then the suffering it produces will not cease, and seeing the fruit separated from suffering also indicates that the cause is separated from attachment. Third, refuting the practice of mourning in the world: If it is said that one should grieve according to worldly customs, then even according to worldly customs, harmful actions such as changing the body have already tormented oneself, and even though one knows that there is no merit, you allow yourself to be afflicted by external adornment. External adornment is also a path followed by foolish and deceitful people, so wise people should not use it on themselves. Fourth, refuting the desire to obtain relationships as the cause of sorrow: If it is said that torment has no merit, but even so, one desires to obtain a relationship with beloved ones such as sons, then the torment that arises from this cannot be avoided. This world
