If the aspect of being a deva becomes impermanent because the previous state is destroyed, then it is unreasonable for one and the same thing to be included in the state of a deva and also included in the state of a human. Therefore, it is unreasonable to think that it is both permanent and impermanent. Fourth, refuting neither both: If both permanent and impermanent were established, (If permanent and impermanent, if both are established, then these two root words are cut off.) Not permanent, not impermanent, its establishment depends on this. If both permanent and impermanent were established, then by negating them, the statement "not permanent, and also not impermanent" would be established. When, in the manner described above, both permanent and impermanent are not established, then by negating them, how can there be not permanent, and also not impermanent? Therefore, that is also unreasonable. The second case is: If one thinks that there is some permanent self that wanders completely, passing from one birth and death to another from beginningless samsara, that is also unreasonable. If something comes from somewhere and goes somewhere, therefore, if samsara is beginningless, then it does not exist. If some agent or sentient being comes from some previous state to the present state, and from that present state goes again to some future state, therefore, if the beginningless samsara passes from one birth and death to another, then coming here from the previous state and going from here to another future state does not exist, because for the permanent or impermanent self or agent, coming and going are unreasonable. Because for the permanent, the action of coming and going is unreasonable, and for the impermanent, it is destroyed where it is born. Therefore, there is no permanent self that wanders from beginningless time. Because in the manner described above, if there is no permanent, then what will become impermanent by being destroyed? Permanent and impermanent, and the negation of both. If at any time, like that, there is no permanent, then what will become impermanent by being destroyed?

If neither permanence nor impermanence is apprehended, then both permanence and impermanence are, and when both of those are eliminated, that which is neither permanent nor impermanent also does not exist. Therefore, the four views clinging to permanence, etc., are impossible at the beginning. Second, refuting the four views of having an end, etc., there are two: refuting having an end and not having an end, and refuting the third alternative of the aggregates. The first is establishing the proposition, and explaining the proof. The first is: If the world has an end, how will the next world be? If the world has no end, how will the next world be? If the world, which is the nature of conditioned phenomena, has an end, characterized by cessation after death, then how will the next world exist? It will only become non-existent. The next world does exist, therefore, it is unreasonable for the world to have an end. If the self or the nature of conditioned phenomena does not perish and enters the next life, and the world characterized by this is without end, then how will the next world exist? Because the former and the latter are the same, there is no distinction between this world and the next. The next world is not non-existent, therefore, not having an end is also unreasonable. Furthermore, because the continuum of the aggregates is like the flame of a lamp, therefore, neither having an end nor not having an end is reasonable. Because the continuum of the aggregates, with each previous moment ceasing and each subsequent moment arising without interruption, is like the flame of a lamp, therefore, because the subsequent moment arises, having an end is not reasonable, and because the previous moment ceases, not having an end is also not reasonable. The second is: If the previous moment ceases, and relying on this aggregate, that aggregate does not arise, then the world will have an end. If the previous moment of the human aggregate ceases, and relying on this human aggregate, the subsequent aggregate of the gods does not arise, then like a lamp extinguished when the oil and wick are exhausted, the world will have an end. Because the subsequent body arises, having an end is also not possible. If the previous moment does not cease, and relying on this aggregate, that aggregate does not arise,
