Should not be done. Two and not two should not be done. Why is that? Because what is said is contrary to reality, because the realm of the mind is contrary. This is because the reason has been explained before. However, if it is not said, then those who have realized will not be able to comprehend the nature of how to abide. Therefore, it should be said for the sake of designation. Therefore, we, for the sake of designation, that is, relying on the conventional truth, for the sake of beings to be tamed, especially adding fabrications, say "empty" and "not empty," and "is empty and also not empty," and "neither empty nor not not empty." With what intention are emptiness and so on spoken, it should be understood as explained to examine the self. As it is said in the sutra: You should see this world as like an illusion, like a play, like a dream, without self, without sentient beings, without life, all dharmas like a mirage, like an illusion. Because of not understanding the principle of emptiness, peace, and no birth, beings will wander. They, with great compassion, with skillful means and hundreds of reasons, lead. Thus it is said. The Tathagata not only does not possess the four such as empty and not empty, but also: The four such as permanent and impermanent, where are they in peace? The four such as with end and without end, where are they in peace? Here, the fourteen things not taught by the Blessed One are as follows: I and the world are permanent. Impermanent. Permanent is also permanent, impermanent is also impermanent. Neither permanent nor impermanent. This is called relying on the former extreme, is the first set of four sentences. I and the world have an end. Without end. Having an end is also having an end, without end is also without end. Neither having an end nor without end. This is called relying on the latter extreme, is the second set of four sentences. The Tathagata exists after death. Does not exist. Exists and also exists, does not exist and also does not exist. Neither exists nor does not exist. This is called the four sentences relying on Nirvana, is the third set. The body is the same as life. The body is other, and life is also other, this is called the two relying on body and life. The former shakes the view of the Samkhya, the latter is the Charvaka's.

Views gather. Third, the views of the naked ascetics are scattered. Fourth, the views of the Sthavira school are collected. These fourteen unanswerable topics are either imputed based on the illusion-like aggregates, or their objects do not exist. As it says in the Mother Sutra: The Tathagata, relying on this Mother, thoroughly knows the agitation, gathering, scattering, and collecting of the minds of other beings and persons, just as they are. It is said. These fourteen topics are not to be expressed in a definitive way, therefore they are called unanswerable topics. Thus, as explained before, the four, such as empty and not empty, are not possessed by the Tathagata, who is peaceful by nature and empty of essence. Similarly, the four, such as permanent and impermanent, are not possessed by the Tathagata, who is peaceful by nature and empty of his own essence. Where are the four, such as finite and infinite, in the Tathagata, who is empty and peaceful by nature? They are not possessed. Because they are not possessed, the Blessed One did not specify these in the world, like the blue and white lotuses of a barren woman's son. Just as permanence and so on are not possessed, so too existence and non-existence after death are not possessed. Whoever holds that the Tathagata exists, grasping with firm attachment, will imagine that he does not exist after Nirvana. Whoever, with great attachment, holds that the Tathagata exists by nature, grasping with firm attachment and generating conceptual thoughts, will conceptually think that the Tathagata does not exist and is cut off after Nirvana. Such conceptual thought will fall into the extreme of permanence or annihilation. For that which is empty by nature, it is not reasonable to think in any way that the Buddha exists or does not exist after Nirvana. If someone thinks that the Tathagata does not exist at any time because it is empty by nature, then for that side, it is not reasonable to think in any way that the Buddha exists or does not exist after Nirvana. Second: Those Buddhas who have transcended elaboration and are endless
