It will definitely not happen. Therefore, they say it will not become endless. Second, refuting it. It is divided into two types: direct refutation and connecting what has been said with memory. The first is divided into three: refuting that which is born from another birth, refuting that which is born from itself, and showing other ways of refutation. The first is: If, according to you, the birth of birth is the cause of the root birth, then how does that which your root has not given rise to, give rise to it? If, according to you, the birth of birth gives rise to the root birth, then how does the birth of birth, which has not given rise to the root, give rise to that root birth? Because the establishment of the birth of birth depends on the root birth. If that which your root has given rise to, gives rise to the root, then how does that root which has not given rise to it, give rise to that? If you want to avoid that fault, and the birth of birth, which is given rise to by the root, gives rise to the root, then how does the root, which is not given rise to by the birth of birth, give rise to that birth of birth? Because the establishment of the root birth depends on the birth of birth. If the root birth, which is in the process of arising, itself gives rise to the birth of birth, and it gives rise to the root birth, then, if that which has not arisen is able to give rise to that, your root birth which is in the process of arising, depends on the wish to give rise to that. That which is in the process of arising is the future, therefore it is that which has not arisen. If that which has not arisen is able to give rise to that which has not arisen, your root birth which is in the process of arising, depends on the wish to give rise to the birth of birth, then that which has not arisen cannot give rise to another which has not arisen, just as the son of a barren woman cannot give rise to a rabbit's horn. Second, stating the former's view: From where birth becomes endless, there is no other birth. So what is it? Just as a lamp illuminates itself and others, birth also gives rise to both itself and others. Just as a lamp, because it is the nature of light, illuminates its own nature and other things such as a pot, birth is also birth

If it is said that because it has the nature of producing itself, it can produce both itself and others. To refute the second view, there are two types of refutation: refutation by example and refutation by meaning. The first is refutation by example: A lamp is not something that illuminates both itself and others. Where are the lamps? Where it is, there is no darkness. What does the lamp illuminate? It illuminates by dispelling darkness. If it is said that a lamp is known to illuminate by dispelling darkness, then what darkness does it dispel to become the illuminator of its own nature? For the moment, one's own nature has no darkness, because it is contradictory. What darkness does it dispel to make the lamp illuminate others? Where the lamp is, there is no darkness. Therefore, what nature of itself and others does the lamp illuminate? It illuminates nothing at all. If it is said that it is not right to say that the lamp does not dispel darkness, because the lamp dispels darkness as it arises. Then, when the lamp is arising, if it does not encounter darkness, how can the lamp dispel darkness as it arises? When the lamp is arising, it is in the future, and darkness is in the present. Because the times are contradictory, if they do not encounter each other, how can the lamp dispel darkness as it arises? If, like the eye seeing objects without contact, the lamp can dispel darkness without contact, then, even if the lamp does not make contact, if it can dispel darkness, then all the darkness that exists in the world can be dispelled by the lamp that exists in this place, because not contacting is the same, just like existing nearby. This method can also be applied to wisdom destroying ignorance, the eye seeing objects, and magnets attracting iron without contact, and so on. In conventional terms, as it is said in the world, without analyzing contact and non-contact, the lamp can dispel darkness, wisdom can destroy ignorance, and so on, this is acknowledged. Furthermore, if the lamp illuminates the things of itself and others, then darkness will also obscure the things of itself and others, there is no doubt. If the lamp illuminates the things of itself and others, because it is a contradictory opposite, then darkness will also obscure the things of itself and others.
