If not, where does one begin to walk? If one begins to walk, does one begin on a path already walked, or not yet walked, or being walked? Consider for a moment, it is impossible to begin walking on a path already walked, because a path already walked is where the act of walking has ceased, and it is contradictory to begin a present act of walking there. It is also impossible to begin walking on a path not yet walked, because a path not yet walked is the future where the act of walking has not yet arisen, and the future and the present are contradictory. It is also impossible to begin walking on a path being walked, because there is no path being walked that is distinct from already walked and not yet walked, and because it would lead to a duality of action, and the actor would also become dual. Therefore, in all cases, beginning to walk is unreasonable. So, where does one begin to walk? Furthermore, this reasoning also shows that beginning to walk is unreasonable, like this: Before beginning to walk, Where will the walking begin? There is no walking, no having walked. Where is the un-walked path? Before Lhasbyin begins to walk, when he is sitting, where will he begin to walk? There is no path being walked, and no path already walked, because the act of walking has not yet begun. If it is said that before beginning to walk, there is no path already walked or being walked, but there is a path not yet walked, and one begins to walk there, then when it is not yet walked, the act of walking has not yet arisen, and the act of walking has not yet begun, so beginning to walk there is irrelevant. Therefore, it is said, where is the un-walked path? If it is said that it is impossible to begin walking on a path already walked, not yet walked, or being walked, but the paths already walked, not yet walked, and being walked exist, but walking does not, then these are also unreasonable. If it is said like this: Walking begins in all ways, If it is itself non-existent, What is walked, what is being walked? What is un-walked, how to distinguish? If the beginning of walking exists, then where the act of walking has ceased is the path already walked, where the act of walking has been completed is the path being walked, and where the act of walking has not yet arisen is the path not yet walked, and these can be distinguished. But, as said before, the beginning of walking is non-existent and invisible in all ways, so what is the path already walked? What is the path being walked? What is the path not yet walked, how to distinguish? Therefore, the paths of the three times cannot be distinguished.
